u guys should draft your OWN standard reply letter to the repsonses you are getting and all send them back to your representatives.

hopefully when the realise your concerns are co-ordinated they may think twice.

What if everyone copied and pasted the constituion and sent them to their reps and senators overwhelm the system, think they'd get the message then?

BRAVO Rockpuck!!!!

But uh-oh... you have probably just landed yourself on the suspected TERRORIST list.

How dare you question???

I fully applaud all of you who've made your frustrations know to your representatives. Anyone in the UK done something similar? If so I'd love some tips. We've got plenty to shout about this side of the Atlantic too!

The best reply in the world ever. Fact!

Rockpuck, this is the sort of eloquence the British have forgotten.

I'll even overlook the spelling errors.

Very articulate response Steve. I have a hard time understanding how our leaders could disreguard the will of the people and the advise of top economists, only to build a new empire out of paper assholes. Maybe things will get better after the depression.

I voiced my opinion to Sen. Mitch McConnell and Jim Bunning here in KY and received nearly the exact reply, though their replies did not elaborate with such meaningless rhetoric as RockPuck's. McConnell kept his to 2 pages ... Bunning just a page and a quarter.

I too replied that they'd lost my vote. I've been telling everyone I know to vote EVERYONE out of office. Find out who's the incumbent and vote against them. If those that we had in office won't represent us, we'll elect someone who will! Neither have replied, but from what I see on television, they're busy trying to win the election this year. LOL. Good luck to them. Most people I know aren't re-electing them. We just put down the Republican Governor Ernie Mitchell and elected Democrat Steve Beshear, so I hope they know we're serious.

EDIT: To clarify: That I don't take sides. The argument of Republican and Democrat is meaningless. The object is to clean house. I'll be voting Democrat AND Republican based on who voted for the Bail-Out and also on other issue important to me, like FISA and if any were in office when the Gramm Leach-Bailey Act was passed - which McConnell was.

You are not a Republican.

Oh yes, you are in name, you are by party, but by the ideologies that true Republicans hold you are a two face liar.

Oh, but they are. At least in their own minds.

I sent a letter to McConnell and Bunning about the FISA issues well before the Bail-Out passed. He replied with a list of 12 "Terrorist Plots" that had been "foiled" because of such legislation. Basically more rhetoric and cannon fodder. I dismissed it completely. Bunning, to my surprise, was actually concerned about the legislation being proposed.

A few weeks later, after registering Republican to vote in the Primaries for a non-traditional candidate, I received another letter from McConnell. This one was a survey (and donation request) out-lining the "New Republican Agenda". I promptly filled in the Survey with my opinions on Terrorism, North Korea, FISA, and various other issues that didn't really concern me as a voter (like gay marriage). When I got to the donation part I crossed out everything. Also, I noticed that along with the "donation" there was a required "processing fee". Anyway in the "Feedback" section I made sure to give him a piece of my mind of what a true Republican is and why they at one time called it the Grand Old Party.

I got nearly the same drivil from my Congress critters here. They must have the same think tank write these and then buy them in bulk with our tax dollars. I realy like the idea of sending then copies of the constitution, I would and send them 'return reciept requested' so someone has to sign for it, then when you redress them next time, you can relate to them that they have no excuse bcause they have a copy of the document that you sent them!

I e-mailed copies of the constituion to my rep and senators in TX. I don't live in Ron Paul's district, if I did I wouldn't have any need to. I doubt they'll read it but at least I feel lik I'm doing something.

I got more or less the same kind of responses. Basically they said no the first vote to look good then said yes the second for with an excuse that makes it seem like they did what they thought was best and necessary.

At least some of you got a reply. The senators and representatives from Arkansas ignored my repeated emails. After they passed the abomination of legislation, I emailed every one of them and told them I would do everything within my power to see they were thrown OUT on the next round of elections. I also notified Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid that I would happily contribute to whoever chose to run against them, even though I can't vote against them.

I wrote to my state senator as well, about month and a half ago..im fron CT. DODD is my state rep in congress...so i was able to contact Shays...i tried to email dodd and lieberman, but htier websites didnt have emails..
I got nearly IDENTICAL email to what was posted. I myself, wonder if tis a former answer they all share?
I was asking him, as a state taxpayer and lifelong resident, to NOT do this $700 billion bailout, and said it was Un american, and Un patriotic. They made thier bed, now let em sleep in it...
He was saying, thier was no other choice, otherwise thier would be a critical near future... i didnt email him back, as i wanted to tell him he was full of it, and did they threaten martial law on you too? Ide like to, but of course, would fear seeing a cop car, or unmarked black car wathing me..
but, nonetheless, the emails in this post was near IDENTICAL.. wow

Your letter was right next to perfect up until the point you said you would vote for the Democrats. Both the Republicans and Democrats never deserve a vote again as far as I'm concerned. By any measure I know of they are extinct. Write someone in if you have to just don't vote for the Elephant or the Jackasses.
