Dave, what a fantastic thread. I'm intrigued by what our peers around here are into. Perhaps a music [best albums? songs? artists? album covers? videos?] thread could be in the works?

DRAMA - The New World [Terrence Malick, the director, is liberal with the historical accuracies, but this is a breathtaking film about Jamestown in 1607...plus it's a rare opportunity to see Colin Farrell act well!]

ACTION/ADVENTURE - Apocalypto [say what you will about M. Gibson...he's knows his craft]

MILITARY - The Thin Red Line [1998][the perverse beauty of war]

COMEDY - Caddyshack[is there really any other?]

ROMANTIC - Bull Durham [borderline for this category, I know...but truly a sweet ending]

HORROR - W. [ha!...I can hardly wait to see this one.]

SCIENCE FICTION - A.I. [one of the great sleepers of our lifetimes]

SPORTS - Field of Dreams [with Slap Shot a very close second...F.o.D. gets it because the scene where Ray gets to play catch with his father brings tears to my eyes every time]

EDIT for linkage...
EDIT.2 to add 'Slap Shot' link...beyond funny!

Slap Shot is about as much of a drama as Caddyshack II is a comedy, D.

The Natural is another great film.
They just don't make 'em like that any more...
