Why are people being silenced?

I just realized something. It's not that people don't know what's going on and that they don't know they are being controlled it's that they are being silenced from speaking to large audiences about their particular point of view.

This fear of public speaking causes them to fear speaking out against the Government. This leaves only few people with this ability and less and less qualified people to lead a protest march. If all people are going to be silenced there needs to be something done about that.

No matter what government is in charge, no matter who rules the whitehouse, Republicans or Democrats, people's voices shouldn't be silenced. I don't like the way the MSM is silencing the voices of a lot of people in the field of military or the government who possess certain views which they would deem harmful.

No one should be silenced. Isn't that what freedom of speech is all about?

Why shall they be silenced?

You take a rally/protest for something. Lets use a pro-marijuna rally for example.

You will have people there with legitimate concerns and issues who generally start it. Who can make intelligent discussion. You then have a few teens at the entrance hanging out.

The media will instead of going to the people with legitimate concerns, will go to the teens and interview them, and they say something like - I dunno man, I just came to get high.

Take that interview, through it on the news. And you have just managed to spin an entire rally as a bunch of hippies and dopeheads.

So if you want an issue to go 1 way, you show the people who are intelligent about it, and if you want to the issue to go the other way, you show someone you want to appear dumb etc.

It's a popular way of doing many things. If you can group the person into a big group, you can then throw all elements of the group as portraying the entire group accurately. Do it to support a common stereotype, and it only enforces peoples belief of that stereotype. See it all the time.

Because they "covered" the story, they can also claim they aren't avoiding the topic.

And it only becomes noticable on subjects you know something about. Then you see the bias. You notice when things are misrepresented.

Hum, you are asking why are people silenced.
Yet you started this thread: Anti-sematism on ATS should not be tolerated.

You can't have it both ways Frank.

Yes, there is a technique known as 'poisoning the venue'.

If you notice, the views expressed on the mainstream media shows are polarized and opposite -- each have their talking points, the opposite spin, and their counter-attacks to the other position.

The two sit, acknowledging only each other as the 'valid' (although 'incorrect') points-of-view.

Any opinion outside there 'sphere', is railed upon by both as 'crazy', incoherent lunacy. In fact, both refuse to acknowledge it, the media cannot and does not cover it -- it doesn't exist.

The subtle lesson to the public, in every news show is: buy in to one of the publicly-supported positions, parrot the talking points, or you will be rhetorically crushed and then ignored, from all sides.

Or just shut up.

That is the true price of freedom. Being able to respect and even defend the other persons freedom. As soon as we start thinking we have the right to dictate what others should do, is the day we lose our freedoms. People often forget that even if you agree with a law, you are still not free. As you will quickly realize the moment you happen to change your mind.
