Not hardly.

1) Texas would retain any and all military personnel and bases. All troops born/raised in Texas, in all branches, would get to go home and defend the state borders or integrate back into society. And the Mexican military can kiss their drug running days goodbye.

2) With Ron Paul at the helm, you can bet Texas will return to a gold standard and issue new backed currency, as well as establish the Bank of the Republic of Texas- which would no doubt be owned and controlled by the people. And I have no doubt RP would have plenty of ideas on that.

3) I have no doubt he would want to review carefully the existing state constitution and rewrite any necessary parts to model the US constitution as close as possible.

4) He would probably make taxes voluntary to a point or even implement a fair tax.

5) Texas would see an immediate influx of money and Ron Paul supporters like whoa. I never wanted to go even that far west, but hell, I'll brave Yellowstone for that.
