China report urges missile shield

The United States needs new weapon systems, including missile defenses and other advanced military capabilities, to deter and counter China's steady buildup of nuclear and conventional arms, according to a draft internal report by a State Department advisory board.

U.S. defense policy has stressed missile defenses against Iran and North Korea. The report, by the Secretary of State's International Security Advisory Board (ISAB), is the first to recommend such defenses against China, including

What ever happened to the US superiority and the fact everyone respected or at least feared them? They seem to be threatened by everyone these days. Why is it that when another nations technology in weapons advances, the US takes it personally? would you not take that as a sign to pull your head in and start playing nice?

I cannot see why China is nt allowed to develope. It is like they are meant to be the poor cousin with no privileges or ability to improve themselves.

The US should just take this statement at face value and move passed the paranoia.

Chinese Embassy spokesman Wang Baodong said in a statement that China is "naturally becoming stronger and more influential in world affairs" after 30 years of reform, but remains committed to peaceful development and a "foreign policy of peace."

"China will not harm anyone or pose a threat to anyone. China's development is opportunity, not threat. Any versions of China threat will continue to be proved fallacious," he said.

Surely the US has better things to be spending thier money on right now.

Everyone gets bothered from the U.S Media these days. Bush wants to provoke WW3 in the Middle East that's how you get people upset by poking their side with a stick all the time. Invading countries for no logical reason. The U.S should have relized that years ago.

Well more than half of the U.S population is disgraced by Bush's actions which further lessens the structure of the U.S as a whole. Which therefore brings down support and trust of the good ol' president. He lied to us many of times, he had spent way too much and further increased the debt, he broke many promises, and failed to relize what he had done to this country. He would be on his knees crying his eyes out on television, if he truly cared, nor did he ever change his voice expression of concern.

But now I don't give a damn about Bush because it's damn well time to get a new president! (hopefully not Mc Cain! I have a bad feeling about him when I first looked at what he looks like.)
