I've noticed that some of my old theads from years ago are being replyed to anonymously. I have seen them pop up on the recent postings board.

However, when I goto the thread the anonymous post is not there. Likewise it does not show up in subscribed threads list as a recent post. I think that the reply might show up after a few days. Is there a delay or bug in the software?

Their posts have to be approved via staff before they go live on the main board.

Good question, I eagerly await the answer myself. I am glad to know, I am not just crazy. Thanks for asking.

might have something to do with
SPAM

if you don't validate Guest posts (ATS Anonymous) you would have **** loads of Spam advertsing Vigra to porn and so on

i would know we use to get loads of that :shk:
allowing anyone to post has its flaws aswell

Not only that, but also think about members, they just log-out and post a hateful message because they want to vent, without it being attached to their username.

the anonymous posts you don't see are the ones that serve no purpose in the discussion. generally, one liners, racism, sales pitches, poorly translated gibberish (stargazing thread) etc.

the anon posts run the gamut from interesting, informed posts to frighteningly comedic hate filled posts. it's both torture and pleasure to read them.

Does a mod get the short straw every day to deal with these?
Is it a form of punishment for naughty mods?

shared responsibility. basically, we see all posts and, when we're reading along and we see an anon post we can show it. thus, they get shown or not shown.

Well that clears up some budding paranoia. Thanks for this thread.

I've been noticing that for some time myself and thought that there was something wrong with my browser. Thank you for clearing that up.

How long typically is there a delay between approval and Disapproval of a Anon posting?

Thank you. I have been on other boards. It is my observation that once basic decency is abandoned, the board goes straight downhill. ATS is TOO good to let that happen. I would label this "sensible oversight" rather than censorhip.

Is it possible to recieve some kind of notification if/when an anonymous post is ok'ed?

I would like to read some of them and I pretty much have to remember to check back. I notice that sometimes it can take a few days for the mods to look at them and sometimes I forget.
