Holly Benson, secretary of the Agency for Health Care Administration, was interviewed on WFSU last week, with reporter Margie Menzel for Florida on the Line.

When asked whether the economic downturn would create a downward spiral on people's health, Benson said she disagreed.

"Just because you're poor doesn't mean you're unhealthy; it just means you have a lot more time to go running," Benson said.

She did go on to say she regretted saying it, but it just shows that sometimes these people forget whether they're talking to the public or their yacht club buddies.

So their must be some well-toned homeless out there huh? It seems the government, who makes us struggle to survive in this country, are laughing at our expense.

well now they can justify poverty as their way of trying to make people fit ...

baring in mind that thoes below the so called poverty line can afford healthy food that doesnt contain carcnogenic chemicals....

Who knew exercise was such a good alternative to eating to stay alive?

How is someone who truly believes that bs supposed to be an effective leader for the healthcare administration? Is that what we are to expect others there to believe? If they believe that way, how can she advocate for the poor people that qualify for Medicaid benefits? This just goes to show you that you don't have to really know what you are talking about to have an opinion. Way to go, Governor Crist.
