Well, I think there was an IRC chat when I first started. And everyone was clammering for the flash chat.

I read it every night, "I miss the old chat"

just goes to show that people will complain about.... Oh I can't even finnish this sentance. This is torture. I want the chat back

You can use an IRC chat with a different java client. I'd just use mIRC myself.

As I really only visit this site 3 days per week, I was really excited when I got to 200 posts and was able to join chat. Then low and behold I go to log in and it isnt working. Well that was about a week or two ago I guess. Oh well I waited this long. What's another couple of .......?

It took me three weeks to get the 200 post count to be able to log into chat.

I was able to log into it twice and then they took it down. I never stayed long because there was only like 5 people in there and 4 were "idle."

As far as I know, there has never been a IRC chatroom on ats. we've had phpmychat, the custom atsfastchat, and the flash chat.

As for the chat not back yet, we have a chatroom on another site. theres nothing wrong with it.

We've had several offers from various members to assist in re-establishing live chat functionality on ATS.

First, I can assure you the delay has nothing to do with available finances or hosting horsepower, and everything to do with my personal bandwidth as there are a number of things occupying my time -- the most important of which is a top-to-bottom audit of the site code to locate performance inefficiencies that are now becoming a problem as we have an increasingly higher ratio of members-to-visitors at any given moment.

Also, while the offers are obviously sincere attempts to help, we (ATS/TAN LLC) need to remain incredibly mindful of our stated privacy policy promise to all our members and users. I have absolutely no fear that the members offering help would do anything to invade the privacy of our members using chat, but the process may very well be a by-the-letter violation of our policy.

We've identified a provider of secure chat services, and will be making the transition to relaunch chat in the next few days.

Again, I appreciate the offers of help.

no need to attack the dude. I think the "made it to 50" meant 50 posts, which would explain how he "just" got to 200. chillax.

Why do we have to use third party java/flash clients and some obscure services system?
