Thanks Red States, Thanks A LOT!!!!

Read a few more threads, and over a longer period of time. I'm sure you'll get your wish - thousands of times over.

BTW, according to some of the polls out, you may also get to thank some traditional blue states for turning red in the next election.

Good for him.

The far right is running scared of this guy, and they're pumping out propaganda 24/7 to keep the FUD campaign going. He'd be a fool not to respond, and he's no fool.

We've seen a huge propaganda campaign here on ATS, aimed at propagating the idea that he's a "Stealth Muslim" a "Stealth Marxist", or a "Stealth Black Supremacist" - all these things have been debunked, or are so ridiculous they don't even need to be, but as Hitler and his far-right buddies knew, the Big Lie often succeeds. Especially if you repeat it endlessly at the top of your lungs...

We haven't seen anywhere near the same kind of rumormongering against McCain anymore (not since the primaries ended), because the far right has decided they have to get behind him. They're the ones who specialize in this kind of vicious, unashamedly deceptive attack politics.

I remember during the primaries, on another forum, when all the far right types were hating on McCain as a supposed "liberal", they were trying to spread the (false!) idea that he was responsible for the 1967 USS Forrestal fire

Just recently, again, I had to defend Ron Paul against (totally false!) accusations of racism in the Politicians & People forum.

This kind of attack politics is a threat to our democracy, and I'll keep fighting it and exposing it, even if it isn't aimed at the guy I'm voting for.

And before you start spewing a bunch of BS about me, I'm an Obama supporter, but I've made it quite clear that I disagree with him strongly on some issues.

No, they will not get censored information here, just heavily nuanced and most bogus information here.

Noah Webster himself couldn't make an informed decision based on the malarkey that passes for information on this site.

I would gladly vote for a black man, as I did for Obama before I found out the truth. (ps, as a registered independent, I could only vote dem)

Interesting... why did you bring up his race? Was this a shallow attempt to deflect any accusations of racism? Why run if you did nothing wrong?

He is no Kennedy, Kennedy was a war hero.

And the son of a bootlegger, *that* is where the power came from.

He is a great Organizer and Orator.

Bring on a black man or woman who wants to defend a place that they love?

You got it... BARACK OBAMA!

Barrack hates America. Get over it.

[edit on 11-6-2008 by jasonjnelson]

Really? You think a person would run a 17 month primary campaign and risk assassination because he *hates* America? Surely you jest!

Have you seen the amount of personal time he has spent in the dingiest areas of America which you say he hates? When was the last time you helped people in the worst part of town get an education and a job?

Jason, I think you are bit too glib to be pontificating on anything.

I would be willing to bet that I have done far more community service and volunteerism than you would ever give me credit for.

And he wants the job for power, like all others. He is not proud of this country, just what it gives HIM. And do you know my history? Do you know where I come from? Yeah, thought not.

Oh, and I don't need to defend the race issue. It was presented in the thread long before, that is why I added that. Duh.

I absolutely agree with your post. I could less less whether BO is black, brown or purple. I do care that I think he has used poor judgment in some of his actions and commments, as has his wife. I also believe GWB has made some major mistakes and I want to be able to criticize them both at any time without being called a racist for giving my opinion of things that I have seen and heard from any candidate, white or black. I happen to believe that Wright is a racist, ten times more so than Geraldine Ferraro could ever be. I want my next president to be smart, knowledgeable and lead this country in an honorable way. A man or woman, any race, just an honest one, that cares truly about the citrizens of this country. I do want a major "change" from what we have; but I want the right person, not just any person. Unfortunately, I think the choices we have this year, BO or JM, do not stand up to my expectations for the best leader of the free world.

I am not calling people racist for disagreeing or disliking Obama... the fact remains however that there has been a deep racist element in the republican party ever since the south bolted the Democratic party over civil rights in the mid-60's and the Republicans have played the race card whenever they gotten the chance... even bush minor used it against McCain in South Carolina in 2000 by sending out flyers suggesting that his adopted Bangeldeshi daughter was really a love child between McCain and a black prostitute.

If you are going to oppose Obama fine but oppose him on the issues not bullhooey reasons like implying he's Muslim because of his middle name or because he doesn't wear a flag pin or because of his former pastor...

...stick to the issues that's what an election is all about anyway.

ALL THAT I HAVE TO SAY is this...

The only reasons people defend themselves with such force is if they know its true and dont want to look bad. That sad, he could be guilty and know he is not patriotic... or hes so excited that hes doing whatever it takes to stay... regardless i dont want this mentality at the head of our country.

Run for the hills everyone.

How could OBAMA stay with his pastor for so many years (noting that he has made statements dating years and years back with the same attitude) IF someone like that stated what they did at my church, and i've talked to several other people they said they would have just left. I would have left and reported him to the CIA... He has never served our country in a strong capacity or put his life on the line for this country, he doesn't deserve to lead it. Obama is so full of *#%% its not even funny. Hey tho what can you do? Another 4 - 8 years of terror.

You obviously have no understanding of what Free Speech is. Freedom of Speech does not ensure you can speak without consequences; it guarantees is that you are free of legal consequences. Yes, you have every right to spew what ever ignorant pap you want, without there being repurcussions from the government. However, just as Freedom of Speech allows you to say what you want, it also allows people like Obama and his campaign workers to counter and correct claims they feel are false or slurs. They enjoy the same protections and guarantees that you do. Countering and correcting slurs and untruths, expressing their opinion on matters is not a suppression of freedom of speech.

Yes, when there is racism or reverse-sexism being used (Ferraro) we will call it ouut right now, the only racist overtone in the campaign today is that of the Clintonites who have decided to support McCain.
Perhaps the "Clintonites" prefer to cast their votes for someone who is a bit more honest than Barack Obama.. He refuses to disclose or speak about any information that could possibly clear him, so what conclusions are left for a rational person to draw?

Everytime you turn around there's some new scandal in his campaign, and that's with most of the MSM giving him a "Free Pass" on all the tough questions. The man obviously suffers from poor judgement, and has no business seeking the office of the presidency.

You really can't spell this out as a rational choice based on the issues and policy. Which leaves only two options, prejudice or mental disorder of some kind.

I've listened to several of Obama's speeches, and have yet to determine what change he plans to bring about. I guess there's a need for a translator that speaks Obamese. Once you take away all the fluff and rhetoric, his speeches seriously lack substance.

It's not prejudice or mental illness that's causing the jump across party lines, just plain old commonsense.

Odinga's followers are responsible for the killing of Christians and other non-muslims in Kenya in order to gain control of the country. Odinga's people raid Christian churches and set the churches and the parishioners on fire. Obama is a supporter of his cousin.

Absolute ignorance. Even the links you posted do not support much of what you said.

Odinga is not a devout Muslim. He identifies with the Anglican Church, though he is probably as devout as the average American. Even the NY Sun link you posted says this.

The majority of Odinga's followes are not Muslims. The NY Sun link supports this: it even says only 10% of Kenya's population is Muslim. If the majority of his followers were Muslim, the February election would not have been as close as it was.

The strongest support for Odinga are Luo, the majority of whom at Christian.

Has there been ethnic violence in Kenya? Absolutely. However, it is something that has plagued Kenya for a long time, before Odigna was on the scene. Plus, the ethnic violence was between Luo (who are majority Christian and who support Odigna) and other groups -- not Christian vs. Muslim.

Once Odinga takes over Kenya, he has vowed to Muslims to implement Sharia courts.

First, this rumor was denied by Kenyan Muslims.

Kenyan Muslim leaders have dismissed as propaganda allegations that an opposition party promised to introduce Sharia for Muslims if it won elections.

Second, Odigna has been Prime Minister of Kenya for nearly two months now. And none of what you have claimed has come to pass.

Besides, lets say what you claim is true. That Odigna and his followers are devout Muslims. What does it matter. This is the United States and the 21st Century, we do not believe the "sins" of the family pass through the blood. If Odigna is Muslim, it does not mean Obama is, and even if that were the case, being Muslim is not a crime, nor does it disqualify one from being President. Tell us, do you have family members that may be criminals or that belong to religions other than Christianity? If so, does it mean you are a member of that religion, or support everything they do. Such a notion is ridiculous.

Why is it okay for John McCain to have a team of internet bloggers (trolls, depending on who you talk to) and Obama is not allowed to defend himself against those attacks?

McCain seeks internet trolls to push campaign-approved talking points

I have seen numerous threads here bashing the hell out of Obama, and McCain gets a free pass. He of the Keating 5 fame. He of the Manchurian Candidate like experience, being broken in Vietnam. He who left his first wife after she was no longer a model, and had been in an disfiguring accident. No mention of his brain farts or age. The man is older than Reagan, and we can remember Reagan's naps right? And Reagan was a Actor, not a Cancer Surviving, former POW! What has he done in the last 8 years, qualifies him to be Commander in Chief, if he couldn't get it done in 2000, what makes him think he is any more qualified? It makes one wonder if Above Top Secret actually skews "fanatic republican in a fantasy", or if it is John McCain's bloggers just doing their jobs? (These are not my personal beliefs, just observations. I think McCain is a Joke, and Obama is a Preacher... Ron Paul is my Guy! But where are the McCain threads? Maybe they just don't have the same amount of hatred keeping them alive?)

I am a long time lurker, who have always looked to Above Top Secret as a source of intellegent discussion about "out-there" topics and ideas, even during an election year. But the bile being heaped on Obama this election is hardly intelligent, and is making me wonder is this website has finally jumped the shark in terms of denying ignorance. This is the worst example, but it is things like this, that keeps me from joining.
(Who needs to now that they have this great new anon post feature? I can read, comment, and I don't need to deal with any of you users who would slander me because I disagree with your Masonic beliefs or Evangelical Christian Republican Party hijacking ways.)

I don't accuse Obama of being Muslim or racist (even though that appears quite a bit in his background). The reasons I don't support him come from his own website. He may say he's not a Marxist, but doesn't it kind of look like it? Lower taxes, but spend all this money on the poor and "troubled communities". Lets properly fund the "No child left behind act" (which completely destroyed our education system). Yeah call me some crazy far right extremist, whatever. The one thing I KNOW is that Capitalism is what made this country what it's known for. The direction Obama is leading IS toward Marxism, socialism, communism what-have-you. He wants to "give everyone the opportunity to live the American Dream" whatever that means. Every American citizen has the opportunity, Its reliant on them to take advantage of that opportunity. The thing that scares me, is I don't really know the intentions of Obama other than what he says. But all he needs to do is say what he needs to get the votes, then it doesn't really matter what he promised during his campaigning, he's in power now and he can do whatever he needs. Whether he's a "stealth muslim/marxist/racist" or if he really has good intentions, why lie? Why do all politicians dance around the questions they're asked? It's not normal human behavior... When someone asks you a question, you answer it. Dancing around it just shows you're hiding something or are afraid that people (voters) won't like that answer.
Also, for the record, I think McCain is an idiot. (not a Clinton supporter either). As much as you people on the left side may hate him, Glenn Beck really brings up a good point. Where's the candidate that will just be honest with us?and Where are the real Americans? We're all so divided between this right and left bullcrap, it's sickening. Thats all I see in almost any political thread is "well your a crazy far right neo-conservative. "yeah but you're a communist crazy Liberal!" Back and forth constantly in everything. It's not about Liberal or Conservative, Its about our freaking country. One man/woman (president) isn't going to solve everything. Currently, while the constitution is still in effect, It's We The People with the power. So lets not give all our rights and authority to one man/woman or one government. Take the responsibility and be a stinkin American! Stand for what you believe in, voice your opinion and at the same time respect the others. We've become so closed minded around Liberal and Conservative that we're setting up failure for learning. In my opinion, the 2 candidates its been narrowed down to, are both threatening to the real America. America as defined by the Constitution.
