Sounds like a weekend trip for yours truly!

I'm a member of an un-named local e-mail group and the following was submitted to the group today. I can't divulge the member's name but thought it would make for some good reading anyway. This location is about an hour NW of my current residence so I'm thinking of a future weekend trip with some video gear might be in order.

Tonight, I spoke with a resident of Fleming County, KY who claims to
have seen unusual UFO activity in his area in the past week. After
searching the internet for a UFO reporting service, he first contacted
me by E-mail yesterday, and follow up telephone contact was made with
the witness this evening.

The Fleming County witness, 18-years old, resides near Hillsboro,
Kentucky. He claims that he first observed a UFO to the west of
Hillsboro, KY (between Morehead and Flemingsburg) last Thursday,
February 19, 2004. He first became aware of the UFO in the area some
30-minutes after explosions were heard in his region. He described the
explosions as "yellow colored flashes and booming sounds" heard around
dusk. The explosions were very different from fireworks and, he said,
was not thunder nor a sonic boom (as per the visual flashing). He said
the explosive noises were repetitive for about 20 minutes with an
estimated 5 booms per minute.

An hour after hearing the explosions, the witness said he went back
outside and saw a bright white light in the sky, but didn't pay any
attention to it. A half hour later, he again went back outside and the
light was no longer visible, but looking in the direction of the hill
where the explosions emanated he saw an orangish-red light about the
size of a dime at arms length. He said this light hovered in same spot
for 30-minutes. He watched it on and off for the 30 minute duration, and
during this time frame the color of the object changed from white to
orange. When it disappeared, the brightness of the object intensified
before it became "dimmer and dimmer" and was gone.

The witness said that again this week on Monday, February 23, 2004, he
saw something oddly similar near the same spot. The witness assured this
object was nothing like a plane or star, resembling a bright light
larger than a star with no discernible shape. He also said the airplanes
visible at the time seemed to be interacting with this object. One
particular plane, he said, seemed to be going in the direction of the
object, as if to check it out. One plane seemed to circle the object.

Hillsboro, KY is around 20-miles south of Flemingsburg and a few miles
north of Morehead, KY, where a strikingly similar report was recently
filed to the WUFOD database. The January 22 report claims that a
wobbling, pulsing UFO was seen around 7:45 p.m. near Flemingsburgh and
jet airplanes also circled this object. Further, another unusual
incident happened on November 21, 2004 near Morehead, KY (neighboring
Rowan County). That event involved a police search for a screaming woman
in an area where a UFO was seen moments earlier.

Nah, not really. In fact the e-mail digest isn't really specific to UFOs but sometimes good stuff comes through.

I'm not sure if I'll go this weekend but hopefully soon. I went to College in the town (Morehead, KY) mentioned in the article so I know my way around there very well. I think I have an idea where to get a good viewing vantage point from and its backwoods so no lights or pesky feds trying to confiscate equipment.

Okay, I didn't go this weekend. I didn't wuss out, honestly. My souse was sick so i spent most of today in the ER with her. I couldn't leave last night with her so ill plus , seh really gets into that kinda thing so I wouldn't feel right leaving her out.

Uhmmm are you sure of that date?

I wish something like that would happen in Australia so I could check it out...

I used to live in Mason County, which is a county over from Fleming... I know the area well.

I can travel through this area the next time I head home to Boyd County 1 1/2 hours south of this area.

I'll definitley be watching the skies !!
