Uh.. the Christian / Muslim convergence point..

In this short thread I wanted to point something out which was just revealed to me in thought on this Easter Sunday evening.

I was thinking about the resurrection of Yeshua after the flesh death, and the difference between the Christian and Muslim stories on Jesus. The Muslims say Jesus wasn't crucified, that he was taken up to God in the flesh. We already know the Christian version. But here is something that JUST struck me..

Regardless of the flesh death, in both religions, in both versions, ultimately Jesus, or Isa, is taken up to the Heavens to be with God. Muslims say he didnt die a bodily death, Christians say he did and then ascended 2 days later, aka Easter. In both cases, he ascends to the Heavens.. does he not?

So in the end, its a disagreement of the flesh, not the spirit, and therefore this fighting between Islam and Christianity must end, because the differences lie only in flesh, which is mere dust, worthless, and the true converging point of both religions is missed; the story ends in the same way.

Simple question. Is Jesus God?

Muslims say the very first of the Ten Commandements is quite clear that there is only one God, being Allah. And if you think that some prophet was God, no matter how holy he may have been, you are essentially a misguided infidel. And some believe that killing you is doing you a huge favor, so Allah can instruct you directly about the truth of the matter.

Christians say that Jesus was indeed God, as was the Holy Spirit, that strange, misunderstood and these days very downplayed entity. Is the Holy Trinity one or three? Or both?

Is there room for compromise? Can a Muslim waffle and say that Jesus is sort of God? Can a true Christian admit that Jesus was not entirely God? No, sorry. There's no middle ground here. If you assume either of the wacky stories is true, they can't both be.

And how it eventually turns out, who "wins," has yet to be determined. Assuming some other nutty option doesn't show up before the big showdown.

or the third option, both christians and muslims are supposed to believe in living together in peace and freedom of worship, the compromise stands at truly living by your faith and not killing other people because they don't agree with you.
