Significant confrontation between US Navy and Iranian Revolutionary guard

According to CNN there were 5 revolutionary Guard ships taunting
the US Navy warships coming as close as 200 yards to one US vessel and broadcasting radio messages quoted as " your ship will explode in moments" the orders were given to man stations but no action was taken..

Though I am not sure what the Revolutionary Guard was trying to accomplish with this action I feel as though it brings us yet one step closer to action on Iran..
