Peta Docs smear Atkins diet on founders death?

We have likely heard that the famous Doctor Atkins is now dead. Some of us are hearing that he was overweight at death and was in failing health having not long before death suffered a heart attack.

All the same this accusation makes it seem a conspiracy! Is there people out to smear Dr. Atkins? what does PETA have to do with a high protein diet? I'm sure there is a connection here.
