Here is a poem I would like to share...

Listen, God… for never in my life before
Have I spoken with You, but today
I want to greet You. As You know,
From childhood I was always told
That You do not exist…
And I so stupidly believed it.

I never gazed at your creations, but tonight
I looked out from a crater dug by a grenade
At the starry sky above me; and I understood
Quite suddenly, while marveling at the lights,
How cruel a lie can be.

I don’t know, God, if You will stretch Your hand to me?
But I will tell You and You’ll understand –
Is it not marvelous that amid this fiery hell
I’ve suddenly seen the light of knowing You?

That’s all I have to say. Just one more thing…
I’m glad that I have come to know You.
At midnight we are set for an attack,
Yet I’m not scared: You’re looking down upon us.

The signal… Well, I must be off…
How wonderful to talk to You… And I just want to add
That, as You know, the battle will be fierce,
And so perhaps this very night
I will come knocking on Your door.

And though I have not been Your friend before,
Will you allow me to come in?…
But I am crying... O my God… You see,
My eyes have opened to the light.

Farewell, my God… I’m off… and hardly will return.
How strange… but death now holds no fear for me at all.

and I would like to dedicate it to all Soldiers all over the world who are far away from home, but not so far away, in times of need!

In humanity's history, it is an easy thing to fight for God.
And easier still to die for God.
But to Live for Him?

I can understand why he didn't believe, being raised in the Soviet Union, where atheism was proselytized and religion suppressed.

Still, uplifting story, I suppose, even for me...

is when mankind come together!
If only it was always like this!
I remember the Twin Towers coming down......people all over the world re united, regardless of religious beliefs!
This, however, did not last long....such a shame for our future!

Madness, be quiet. I used to be a communist, I used to love the Soviets because I used to be an extremist atheist and I loved the idea of wiping out religion. They were freaking atheists, end of story. They knew that the state wasn't supernatural or godly, they just were extreme nationalists.

That is not theism, it's nationalism and authoritarianism, okay? Just accept it. Don't make excuses, I'll even admit something: Hey, the Nazi regime was heavily influenced by paganism! Shame! See? I had guts. Alot of Nazis were neo-pagans such as Himmler who hated Abrahamic religions.

If I can admit that, don't you go and twist around the fact that the Soviets weren't atheists, they were, face it.

I need to watch myself carefully. This is two times I have found myself agreeing with you. This could be a dangerous habit.

I recall you stating ,and I agree, in another thead that christmas is pagan in origins. I agreed there too.

IN regards to the Communists I am often reminded of the Philosopher Hegel and the statement attributed to him. " The State is God."

im fairly sure the USSR were socialists. they were a militant regime that used communist rhetorics, you obviously weren't really a true communist.

Err, to elaborate, I didn't fully understand communism to it's extent, I heard equality, anti-racism, anti-sexism, etc, but what it really was at least at first was that I thought the Soviets were just cool and stuff and when I found out they were atheist and tried to wipe out religion it just made it even cooler to me. I was ignorant and childish.

Then around August 2006 I realized what communism truly was economically and realized how much "overkill" it was, and that I really uh didn't agree with it.

This followed after realizing how utterly obnoxious and generally anti-American communists tend to be; I went from soviet lover to someone who admired Mussolini in a matter of days.

I know he was raised Catholic and got influence from Martin Luther (who was anti-semitic...well not in the racist sense but in the religious sense).

He had Christian Identity movement-like beliefs if I recall (how else could you be a Christian and an anti-semite for primarily racist reasons without being a hypocrite?)

He didn't actually approve of many of the neo-pagan/Ásatrú beliefs of the other members, such as Himmler, he tried to dissuade them, though he still didn't shy away from adopting Ásatrú symbols/Germanic runes as emblems of the Nazi regime (such as the SS symbol and the Swastika itself).

But just read about Himmler, he despised Abrahamic religions, and was somewhat crazy, believing himself to be the reincarnation of Heinrich I, doing pagan rituals in Wewelsburg castle, and tons of other craziness...

There is a very intresting facet to politics in that when you cut it into individual identifying fingerprints...it is a manner of sex ritual. Sex Ritual to those schooled in it is part of a pagan principle.

What I am saying here so to speak is that Politics is such a whore that they will sleep with anyone in expediency. This translates into politics is in fact a religion. You can apply this to the Nazis, to The Communists, to Western politicians too. No difference. This is not a facet taught in public schools but when you know enough of the pattern/fingerprint
it becomes obvious.

Politics is also economics...and if they are often using such ritual to bind the politicians and thier dupes or controllees...what are they doing to the manufacturers and lenders?? I dont think this is a new phenomonon. I think it is very ancient....going back thousands of years. It has only been refined to bring it up to todays technology.

Once I began to understand this principle for what it is...whoredom..I realized what a mockery that politics and economics is in this country. Also I realized that these Churchs sniffing up the backside of whorish politicians here in this country are going to get burned big time...by both dominant partys ...by and by.

I dont believe Hitler was Christian at all..I believe he counterfitted the belief for expediency. His real religion was whoredom...or politics. Counterfitting the belief system or ...making yourself look to be something you are not ..is very common in the religion of politics. It is going on still today. Hitler is not alone in this fingerprint.

The Bolsheviks rounded up Christian priests and shot them, they burned down churches to put other buildings in place, seeing the churches as useless.

Synagogues too, in fact I believe some Muslim mosques were destroyed in Mongolia.

And don't any of you listen to those bull conspiracy theorists who claim the Soviets didn't attack Synagogues because they were controlled by Jews, some Rabbis took up arms with the White Russians during the civil war to fight the communists.

My friend Elinka from Israel, she was born in Russia, her family is Jewish but personally shes agnostic/atheist. She says when her parents were living in the Soviet Union they had to practice their religion in secret.

While religion was never explicitly outlawed in the Soviet Union, it was oppressed heavily, in schools students were encouraged to mock fellow classmates if they were wearing religious items of any kind, such as a cross.

However some Soviet Satellite/Communist states/countries did actually outlaw religion, such as Albania off the top of my head.

Now during World War II the Soviet Union allowed the Russian Orthodox Church more freedom again in order to increase morale amongst the soldiers, though I believe after it was over it was restricted once again. I don't recall the details.

There was a rather nonsensical mish-mosh of religious beliefs within and influencing the Nazi regime, Christianity and Ásatrú both played roles, it makes little sense, but really it just goes to show that Hitler was willing to even be hypocritical just to gain support.

i do know about the oppression of soviet jews (my first love was a ukrainian refugee...)

still...the oppression wasn't in the name of atheism, it was in the name of marxism/communism/leninism/marxism.
atheism has no command to do such things, no way to reason them out. it's a simple denial, a single statement.

and i'll agree that there was plenty of paganism, but also a great deal of christianity. quite the odd mosh of beliefs.

Ok i think we are now debating a religious topic.

However, regardless, it was beautiful and whether he was atheist or not it was beautiful - period. I think when a soldier dies and he lays among others NO one walks around and says yeah, "Christian; pick HIM up" or "atheist; pick HIM up".

They are all equal at that time. They own nothing, they feel nothing and they ALL will have loved ones, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters that will miss them. That is what they will have in common - people that still love and miss them - that is the tragedy - not what faith etc they did or did not belong to.
