NH to lose half its GOP delegates

The national Republican Party announced today that it will punish five states for scheduling early nominating contests.

New Hampshire, Florida, South Carolina, Michigan and Wyoming will lose half of their delegates to the national convention, said Mike Duncan, chairman of the Republican National Committee.

This is beyond foolish. For one thing, it makes the GOP look anti-democratic. Second, it isn't going to change the fact that the early states contribute more to momentum and legitimacy than actual delegates. This is a strong argument for one primary date for the entire nation. The national parties need to be the movers on this.
