Satellite Photo(s) of Blasted Syrian Nuke Site

www.nytimes.com

New commercial satellite photos show that a Syrian site believed to have been attacked by Israel last month no longer bears any obvious traces of what some analysts said appeared to have been a partly built nuclear reactor.

Two photos, taken Wednesday from space by rival companies, show the site near the Euphrates River to have been wiped clean since August, when imagery showed a tall square building there measuring about 150 feet on a side.

One structure in the middle of nowhere. Yeah, it's ruined -- nothing there anymore but whiteout cement desert, if that.

Excellent find Buddy,
The story was that commandos got in there and pinched some radio active material..
I was expecting them to display it to the media.
Maybe they will one day, when it suits them.

I wonder if any spy planes/satellites have picked up the radiation from the site.
I would guess not,or it would have been all over the news by now.

I've always wondered why Israel has been so secretive about the air strike. Only now are they releasing info, and two images. What was the importance of the reactor. Some say it resembled the N.Koreans reactor. Could Korea have been an attempted diversion for Syria to develop a reactor in assistance to the "growing concerns" by the US of Iran preparing for a possible war? More propaganda? Iraq had no WMD, then finding out years later that Syria was building a reactor...sounds like the US missed and had to cover it up with the help of there only allies it seems, Israel.

Let's go by what is known as fact about this:

The site is located near a river which is a requirement for cooling

The site has an airstrip nearby to bring in crews and supplies

The site is not near any major cities

The site design looks like the ones North Korea has

The site was destroyed by Israel

The site was wiped clean shortly after this destruction became public

This is plenty of info to assess that a nuclear site was being built. Even if it would have taken a year to become operational, when was Syria going to mention this to the world? Don't you mention things like this before you start construction?

This leads me to think that Saddam might have sent his nuclear info to Syria before he was removed. Wouldn't that be a possible scenerio? Syria lost this technical support once Saddam was removed and had to look for another source of help. The DPRK was getting into hot water with its nuclear activities so why not help out Syria and get whatever it has out of the country before the inspectors come in or someone attacks? There have been reports of North Koreans in Syria so maybe they were finishing up what Saddam started? This is just an idea.

i actually think all this explaination is way too pat (as in a 'cover story')

there's several questions that have 'fuzzy' answers,

the site & target...'before and after' is under wraps
the site in the OP is merely a interesting timeline,
the building in question was just about the dimension of a N.K. reactor.
neither Bush nor Israel are releasing intel,
but they are letting others, like this NYT article, build the cover story.

i read some hours ago that a commercial satellite actually had photos
of the region & target site, made a mere month before the Israeli raid.
it was known by one of hose MEMRI or similar mideast private intel sites.

what still remains strange is If that was a N.K. uranium enrichment facility
still some years away from completion of construction...
just why was it blown up now?
why are CTers thinking that there would be radiation readings at the site?
a facility years from completion as the Israeli's say, why the commandos?

as i see it, the Israeli's, the US administration, Intel, Mossad, are throwing
all sorts of chaffe & snow into the media...to confuse and bedazzle the public.

it's the NYT today, FOX & RupertMurdoch tomorrow...enjoy the show
as we get nearer the November, Camp David, Mid east summit,
hosted by GWBush.

They'll mention it when the US mentions their true intentions in the mid east.
