Pinot noir grapes have more genes than humans, scientists say

Not surprising to us Pinot drinkers out these but scientist mapping the Pinot Noir grape has 5-10000 more genes than a human. The Pinot grape has almost 2 times the number of genes dedicated to producing flavor.

The practical aaplication of this knowledge will take years to develop however, but may result in better breeding etc.

All hail the mighty grape of Burgundy... Thou art most noble! As anyone who has had Domaine de la Romanée-Conti could tell you, Pinot Noir is quite superior to mere humans.
