I found this quite odd, as I was under the impression that many satellites are using plutonium already, and I thought they would be more dangerous, as being in a close orbit would make them more likely to come crashing down to us causing problems.

Nuclear propulsion would definately be an advantage space travel time wise, unsure what the risks are but they can't be good, hey would probably have to build a Nuke powered spacecraft in orbit or something.
