Pretty much every forum, of any kind, that I have ever been to
has had a "poll" option for a new thread.
I was just curious, why doesnt ATS have polls as well.
I am sure that you guys have your reasons and I was just
wondering what those reasons where.
I think they would be a great addition to ATS, especially with
the US Presidential Campaign thats beginning to wind up.
It would even be ok if you made it where only a Mod or and Admin
could create one.
The Mod could create a poll, asking who we would vote for to be our
next president and make it a sticky so it would be visible
all the way up until the actual election takes place in 08. Maybe we can even have a poll that asks whether people actually want a poll or not LoL.. What do you say guys? I'm assuming the answer will be no because for whatever reason, there hasnt been a poll yet..
Thanks

Dude,

I just thought before seeing this thread how redicilous that we aren't able to create a poll whatever bases on, on new threads we create if we wish to.

[bold]Yea i know, like i said, even the most basic "free" forums have a poll option.. Like i said, I am sure there is a reason why that option isnt available here, I was just curious what that reason is..
Also wondering why I cant seem to get the alternate color tags to work lol...[/bold]

well, cant seem to get any of the tags to work either..

I would also like to see some polling going on around here. The only reason I can see why they would not want to do that, is because it doesn't agree with the whole one liner policy. If they want to continue to "take pride in making every post count," this idea may be counter-productive to that goal. Nevertheless, sounds like a good idea to me.

edit: for bold lettering all you need is the b, not the whole word.

You are using the wrong code. Quote this post and you will see how to do it.

BTW, polls come up all of the time. It's so old I don't recall the reason that it was turned down.

I was thinking how interesting it would be if someone had created the poll thread, that if you would accept the chips and/or implanted chips or not, and that being welcomed in society.

My bet is most people would say no.

Oh ok, I guess that I wasnt here when they had them because I dont remember ever having them..
Why will the poll option never be returned? does it take up any space or anything just by having the option available? thanks for the reply though..
I was just using the code that comes with pushing the "B" for bold button at the top of the field..
thanks though

What about color

Hmm, nevermind, seems that it is working now to

Is this thread considered to be in the ATS or BTS section?

I think it would be great to have a question of the week.

Perhaps members could submit possible questions to the Mods and have one picked each week with multiple choice and the results are posted at the end of the week.

I remember a couple polls a long time ago, but nothing recently.
I guess a member could start a thread in BTS that members could reply to, but it would be up to the OP to tally the results.

What would be wrong with starting it here? Guess it would be hard to keep score, huh? I vote Ron Paul!

I have no problems with starting an informal "text" based poll but like you said, it is just hard to keep up with, which is why I'd prefer a real poll..
Im wondering why I cant get a STRAIGHT answer from an ADMIN about why olls were discontinued and why they cannot be reinstated??

I can understand their lack of use but I still dont see that as a reason to stop them..
If people abused them, then it is more understandable.
However, like i said before. We could get an ADMIN to start one for us and make it a sticky or do it just for the the elections and then discontinue them...
Come one ADMINS answer me or i will be forced to engage in protest and acts of Civil Disability

jk

edit: oops forgot to vote. My one and only vote for president would have to go to Romney, who used to be in 3rd place according to Fox polling..
He's now dropped to a dismal 4th place behind the ever present but not a good candidate McCain
Look at Thompson go though, he has been steadily catching up with giuliani for the past few months and hes damn close to the margin of error

Republican Presidential Nomination

RCP Average: Giuliani +5.3%

* Giuliani* 28.2%
* Thompson* 22.9%
* McCain* 15.2%
* Romney* 9.1%

On the Democrats side there is a very clear leader and unfortunately she is probably the next president of the US.. ...

Democratic Presidential Nomination- I just dont understand why the dems cannot give us a decent candidate(in my mind)
I mean come on what did they produce in 2000? freaking GORE? lmao horrible candidate who tried to ride in on Clintons fame.
Then, who'd they produce in 04? Kerry? jeez man he looked like a horse and seemed to have even less of a clue than Bush does.
And finally for 08 and who they were even more predictable than ever with their nominee.. Here comes the Socialist Hillary Clinton. She, and her husband are probably the most crooked couple to ever be in politics..
Their dealings with the Chinese should be considered nothing less than treason. Even now as one of the Clintons, Chinese campaign contributers is arrested her popularity rises..
If there were ever a president that that I wouldve been afraid that he would never leave office, it was Bill Clinton.
the thing is though, his supporters numbered way over 50% of the voters so I believe if there were no presidential term limits, he would still be President.

RCP Average: Clinton +18.8%

* Clinton* 41.8%
* Obama* 23.0%
* Edwards* 14.3%
* Richardson* 3.7%

Come on mods, bring back polls especially for Presidential Election!!

You could always create a poll on a website, on free-based one or chargeable one.

And then, make a thread attached with a poll link.

Yea i know but the site would not get the traffic that ATS has and people dont generally like to click on links.. I dont just want it for me, I think it would be good and interesting for the entire board.
What would even be better but i dont think it is possible, is to allow people to change their minds at least twice since the election is so far away..
Besides im not the only one that wants polls and not necessarily just for
this purpose.. there are many other things that people could use the polls for..
