While some members prefer political bickering, others prefer to research and discuss conspiracies.

Hi Bandit!
My observation.. the liberals do the bickering and complaining as is their nature and the conservatives do the in depth research and discussion in an effort to elevate and improve society! Eg. Semperfortis... am I wrong??

I think this site is too liberal. Too socialist and too commie thanks to all the socialist Euros and their ilk. This site is far from true American mixture of being overwhelmingly pro-American than anti-American. But I think that has partly to do with the ownership also.

Nope... There are researchers and bickerers on both sides of the members. I've applauded both "conservatives" and "liberals".

As if the site was meant to be like that. It's primarily a conspiracy discussion site which you obviously should've known already. I've heard that there are other sites U can Use to be so called "true American or pro American".
In Aruba they call that kind of view a "bril di palo".

Personally I am anti corruption and pro peace and respecting constitutions.

What this site was meant to be and what it has become is left to debate but I think what I've said accurately describes what I have come to know about ATS.

Nonsense... It's just your opinion. Just as some members are complaining that this site is too conservative , some members like yourself are complaining that it's too liberal.

Just accept the site as it is, and let us mods make sure that it stays as good a conspiracy discussion site as it can get. And as for abovepolitics.com, a forum where every political viewpoint can be heard without trumping on others.

The Truth: Somewhere In Between...

To speak of opinions on a site-wide basis is to totally miss the point of what ATS is all about.

There is no such thing as an "ATS opinion". Every member is expected to have a unique opinion chosen entirely on the basis of a unique perspective.

The membership of ATS fluctuates, the opinions of each member fluctuate as well, and all of the opinions of all members are subject to change without warning, at their sole discretion.

You might just as well stand on the beach and argue about which wave was taller than the last.

Our international traffic is actually about 30%.

You "seem" to be equating "pro-American" with conservatism, and anti-american with liberalism... I hope your world view isn't that narrow.

However, the "ownership" here has nothing to do with the makeup of the members, discussions, or ebb-and-flow of political leanings. More than any other such "User Generated Content" site on the Internet, we steadfastly avoid meddling in the topics our members choose to discuss. We defer to the collective wisdom of a civil "crowd" as the best overall means to understand provocative or complex issues. Unfortunately, we see far too many intensely political partisans engage in an evangelical approach that prefers preaching to understanding.

I've been here longer than some and not as long as others. It comes and goes, one week one way, the next week the polar opposite. Cyclical.

I'll readily admit to being somewhat concervative...so shoot me. Some of the touchiest arguments (oops, I meant conversations) I've seen here in are between people professing concervatism or liberalism. Strange how that works...

'Course this is what makes this place such a blast. Argue and learn. Great combination...

Now Iv had a laugh there is a thread in this forum where a member claims that ATS is mostly Liberal.

Admittedly when I first joined ATS I thought that the board had a slant to the right. But this turned out to be nothing more then the vocal members of the American right. It took a couple of years for reality to set in and for the accusations of me being "anti American " to end.

Clearly topics like this wont lead to any productive discussion . It all comes down to a members prospective .

Think of it this way .

Is my aunt short or am I tall ?

Wow looks like some people read a little too much Ayn Rand when they were growing up and some of the rest of you must have been reading Tolkien. Your future readings were chosen so you would fulfill your role on earth as either a conservative or a liberal. That way you could be distracted from searching for the real meaning of life. Whatever that may be, although, I doubt that it's an hour or two in church a week. If you look at the political spectrum from end to end it is evident that it is one continuum.

Has anybody out there read Tolkien and Rand?

Is there anyone else out there who feels the same way? This forum discusses many topics that are issues because of right wing politics in this country...such as 9/11, the war in iraq, government opacity etc... I wonder why people with right wing political leanings would be attracted to this site in the first place?
The very definition of the word liberal means freedom, so why is their so much hatred and fear directed towards liberals?

I think the answer is censorship.
I say no one with a differing view should be allowed on here. I think you should come up with a rule that only people who agree with CT"s should be allowed. Anyone who offers up a differing opinion should be banned the first time they don't go along with what most people say.
that would be very liberal...

By saying this site is too liberal/conservative one is also implying that this site is too user generated. If users are afraid or too intimidated (by either direction) to post, the Mods tend to be the the ones to bring it all together. Their job is to make sure people are respectful and allow others to speak without being flamed, and they are pretty good at it (even if their opinions coincide with people that flame).

This site is USER GENERATED!!! I do not understand why people still do not get this. If its too conservative and you are liberal, speak up (and the other way around). If it is too both liberal and conservative, let us know about another ideology.

1. The site is not a front for the CIA (like Facebook)
2. The mods are not aliens (though some think they are)
3. This site is not too liberal or conservative
4. This site is open for all people with all kinds of thoughts, including those people that think Bush is a reptilian
5. The only biased individuals on this site are those pesky emoticons... that face is laughing at me, I swear.
