Does this surprise anybody???

"Two of President George W. Bush's military advisors said that the US inability to find illegal weapons in Iraq means little. 'I don't think that you can draw any conclusion from the fact that the stockpiles were not found,' Pentagon advisor Richard Perle said."

He says we cannot draw any conclusions....so why did we INVADE in the first place????

Haha. Perle's reasoning is classic. Its a liar's last resort before admitting what everyone already knows.

why they invaded could be read a whole lot of ways i guess... remember paul wolfowitz saying, "for bureaucratic reasons, we settled on one issue, weapons of mass destruction, because it was the one reason everyone could agree on."
here in australia, our foreign minister said he was unsure what bureaucratic justification for the war meant.

www.newamericancentury.org...

Just read that and you'll understand why they had to invade Iraq, it's not that difficult to understand is it ? It's an age old goal and if someone still can't understand that, I think they have a little problem with reality.

Look at those who signed the letter.

Your foreign minister is exactly right. A beurocratic justification basically means that they had to find some excuse for a war that had no real reason for it.

Seems to me to be a difference TigeriS. How so?
The US went to war against Iraq to free Kuwait. In such, in getting their collective military arses whooped, they agreed to a cease-fire agreement that constituted that they, Iraq, will get rid of all biological, chemical, nuclear, etc. WMD's. Whether Iraq did or didn't has been discussed over and over and over, and there is no need to rehash it in this thread.
Having said that, "those other countries" do not fall under the above mentioned criteria, thus bringing them into this discussion and situation is moot.

We have a nice collection of puppet governments in place now... think about pre 9/11- the only (major) one in the area was Israel. Once we go after Syria (they're next), we'll have Israel, Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan, plus insignificant countries like Qutar and Kuwait. If you don't want to fight in the Middle East, now's not the time to join the guard or enlist.

Oh, and Saddam tried to kill W's daddy... boo hoo
