I've always liked the U2 version. 5/10

***

Screamin' Jay Hawkins - I Put A Spell On You (original)

Diamanda Galás - I Put a Spell on You (cover)

I have to give Diamanda 10/10 for that version
but the original is cool too

Have to give that cover 5/10 Hellmutt, it freaked me out too much.
Much prefer Screamin' Jay.

How about this one.

The Who - My Generation, original

The Zimmers - My Generation, the cover

I give it a 8/10 just cause its damned funny, and kinda sweet in an odd way too.

Their are so many I can not find on video like Elton Johns Rocket man covered by Me First And The Gimme Gimmies or Led Zepplins no Quarter covered by TOOL and another great one is 99 red balloons covered by Goldfinger. System of a downs cover of Berlins Metro

I like the original better, don't care for the cover at all.

youtube.com...

Joy Division - dead souls

youtube.com...

Nine Inch Nails - dead souls (cover)

10/10 I love it, both the cover and the original.

Obviously I fail at trying to link youtube videos.

2 songs that The Clash covered but the originals are probably less well known but are absolutely fantastic!

The Clash - Brand New Cadillac. Live somewhere in the US, 1983. 7/10

Studio version on London Calling album is truly brilliant.

Vince Taylor - Brand New Cadillac. Live in 1979. 7/10

Vince Taylor was most successful in France and led a truly remarkable life.

The Clash - I Fought The Law. 8/10

Timeless! Brings back so many memories.

Bobby Fuller Four - I Fought The Law. 7/10

Hullabaloo recording and Hollywood a go-go recording side by side.

Bobby Fuller was the 1st to record I Fought The Law, but it was written by Sonny Curtis of The Crickets. I have heard The Crickets singing I Fought The Law but can't find it. Perhaps someone else knows?

Just had to post this,
don't know if anyone has ever posted this before but this is just beyond belief

Pulp - Common People. 9/10

A remarkable performance of an excellent song by a very talented man.

In contrast to....

William Shatner - Common People. ?/10

Unbelievable...What were Joe Jackson and Ben Folds doing being involved?

yeah ive posted that one on page 2 i think? Maybe its just me but i like it in an odd kind of way.

The Beatles - Come Together

Soundgarden - Come Together

I'm supremely biased but i give the Soundgarden cover 10/10. Not a huge fan of the Beatles original, i even think Aerosmith's version is better than the Beatles.

Hey, i love Jeff Buckley, a unique talent sadly missed.

To embed the video's properly you only need to have the letters and numbers after the = in the url between the
brackets.

Just go to one of the posts above and click on quote to see how its done.
Thanks for joining in on the thread.
