OK. You would think this is a given, but I guess it needs to be said. Before you sever a limb or appendage give it some time.

Aron Ralston probably gave it enough time. This guy and the guy in California, not so much. At the very least you may want to try yelling to see if anyone is around or if the person that went for help is just about back.
