I was just wondering.

The Ankh, or Crux Ansata, tradition has two primary meanings, "eternal life", or "that which gives life", while the "anchor" is oft equated and linked to "Jesus" with the same esoteric qualities (if ye believe ye shall inherit eternal life).

IF we take a serif style letter T and reverse or spin it 90 180 degrees on axis, we find that it reveals the mold for the formation of an anchor.

Are these two symbols and design in the words Ankh and Anchor esoterically linked?

For related teachings, see the quote from Manly P. Hall, with info from Godfrey Higgins and the Rosicrucians, here:

Buddhism, FreeMasonry and Gnosis

And this:

The Ankh/Crux Ansata and the Ros-e Crosse

The Initiate begins with her or his center of gravity anchored in the hard Stone of Sex(like Prometheus chained to the same Rock), which is Yesod:

The "Lost Word" and the "Foundation Stone"

It is taught that after the Initiate attains Mastery, after Building the Temple of Solomon upon the Rock, or after having Raised the Seven Brass or Bronze Serpents upon the TAU Cross, that their center of gravity is transferred to Daath:

Revelation, chapter 7:2-4:

"And I saw another angel ascending from the east (the solar energy rising from Yesod, ‘Sex,’ to Tiphereth, ‘heart’), having the seal of the living God (the Hexagram): and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,

"Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed (with the Hexagram) the servants of our God in their foreheads.

"And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand (144000 makes the addition of 9, the Ninth Sphere ‘Yesod’; those who unite Yesod, the Third Triangle to Daath which is above the Second Triangle of the Tree of Life) of all the tribes of the children of Israel."

In other words: Eternal Life(Spiritual), or the Elixir of Long Life of the Alchemists(Spiritual and Physical).

The mystery of the Ark of Noah is hidden within the Kabbalistic Hebrew letters!

The Ark-Mariner Degree of Masonry may explore the symbolism of the Great Arc-anum, or of Noah's Ark that floats on top of the Sexual Waters of Yesod(while the fornicators drown in the Waters).

Masonic images from Phoenixmasonry:

Encyclopædia Gnostica: Waters

It refers to the Akasha Tatwa.

And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the (Akasic) waters.

Let there be a firmament in the midst of the (Akasic) waters, And let it divide the (Akasic) waters (of Daath) from the (Akasic) waters (of Yesod) Let the (Akasic) waters under the heaven (Yesod) be gathered together unto one place (Hod), and let the dry land (Astral Body) appear: and it was so.

And God said, let the (Akasic) waters (of Yesod) bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life.

And God created great creatures, and every living creature that moves, which the (Akasic) waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl (in Daath) after his kind.

And God blessed them, saying, be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the (Akasic) waters in the seas, and let fowl (souls) multiply in the earth (physical body).

And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of (Akasic) waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven (of Yesod); and every thing that is in the (physical) earth shall die.

But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shall come into the (Akasic) ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thaee.

And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shall thou bring into the (Akasic) ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female. - Excerpts from the book of Genesis

Hi Tamahu,

I have gone through alot of what you have posted, but there does not appear to be any rational relationship between the Ankh and the Anchor as an archetypical design. There must be something far more rational and available than trying to mystify all of this into some Hebrew connotation.

Why do "Western mystics" always try to put everything in perspective to a Hebrew construct? At the base of it, even from a philosophical and an historical basis, the attempt to do such really does not make any sense.

Manley P. Hall states,

Sun worship played an important part in nearly all the early pagan Mysteries. This indicates the probability of their Atlantean origin, for the people of Atlantis were sun worshipers. The Solar Deity was usually personified as a beautiful youth, with long golden hair to symbolize the rays of the sun. This golden Sun God was slain by wicked ruffians, who personified the evil principle of the universe. Source

Without a doubt, it could be argued that no religious system has sought to destroy the knowledge and philosophical system associated with "the Sun" more than have the Judaic tribes and their offshoots. Since this holds true, the very philosophical foundations you appear to find a great value in must itself be rooted and its fount in the very "ruffians" who clearly seek to sley the "the Golden Sun God".

The Ankh and the Anchor stand to have a far more rational basis as being symbols that reveal aspects of this Ancient "Sun God" than they do in such concepts as "sex" on the lower planes.

Since we know that the Egyptian Mysteries were a target of the Judaic tribes, and the Ankh is an Egyptian symbol, what is the rational basis to try to morph the Ankh into a Jewish or Judaic interpretation? Is this not a form of absurdity in that we allow an interlocutor to interpret for us what is plainly visible for all to see?

Clearly the design is geometric, so cannot be Judiac inspired. Would it not make some sense to first study the Heiroglyphs to see if we can find some clue or information to aid us in our discovery?

The T, from which the Ankh clearly shows a design parallel, is depicted as "the Letter D" rotated 90 degrees on its axis, while the Letters D and T are the only two "D"n"T"als (dentals) in the English language set. Furthermore, the "Book of Formation" hints at a phonetic philosophy predicated on models of hardness and softness:

The two sounds of each letter are the hard and the soft--the aspirated and the softened. They are called Double, because each letter presents a contrast or permutation Source

We can clearly represent the D and the T as models of "hardness" and "softness", so how do we represent these Letters as "permutations" or "contrasts"?

If D is the Sunrise, and T is the Noon Zenith, have we not created a permutation or "contrast" or "opposite", in that one is at the lowest order of appearance and the latter is at the upper most appearance of observation?

Do we then not put this observation back into perspective as "the Sun God" as our reference point and inspiration?
