Ignoring all the Black metal

I will say anything by Nick Cave or The Birthday Party.

"Sanctum Sanctorum" by The Damned, from the album "Phantasmagoria".

Gets me every time.

Rain, church organs, sweeping, haunting, dark and passionate.

Check it out, it'll have you dancing on misty, moonlit, old cobbled streets while a thunderstorm crashes overhead. Be sure to get home before the sun comes up.

Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd -- just about the entire album The Wall, really.

A lot of music by Dead Can Dance is pretty haunting. Try Cantara, Enigma of the Absolute.

Coil's Album, Horse Rotorvator, has a lot of chilling music on it -- but it IS about death. Who By Fire, Ostia, Penetralia.

Coil also did a soundtrack for Hellraisier, but it sadly never made it, apparently it was too creepy for the studio.

i wouldnt have guessed it seems there are lot more christian bands now that dont seem christian

seen pink floyd mentioned twice but im gonna list them again

dark side of the moon does the trick for me

jimi hendrix - axis: bold as love is another good one to just relax to with your eyes closed
