What is the difference between the romantic notion of "being in love" with someone and the active notion of "loving" someone?

Previously I recommended the definition, however...

Love cannot be defined only felt, sometimes mutually, sometimes not, sometimes falsely sometimes true. Love can be unconditional..this I believe.

The difference is, that when your in love, its exciting and romantic. When you love someone, you still love them, but the romantic part has kind of simmered down.
