A thread like this was trashed binned yesterday.

And what's not buying fuel on May 15th going to do anyway? People are just going to buy it the day before or the day after. The money is going to get to the companies, what day it gets there isn't really a concern to them.

I never even thought of it that way. I didn't post earlier because I felt that it was foolish that people would not buy gas for a day for a cause. I did not think people would actually boycott gas for a day, but your comment makes me see otherwise. Some people will embargo the petroleum industry and postpone their fuel purchases to the day before or after.

Now, if you can convince the world to go petrol sober, then that would be a feat and I would probably kiss your toes.

Here is the gist of the email I received:

"Date: Mon, 30 Apr 2007 09:58:38 -0700
>
>Forwarded: Tell everyone, we are going to fight back!
>
>>
>>NO GAS...On May 15th 2007
>>>
>>> Don't pump gas on MAY 15th
>>>
>>>In April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of
>>>gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.
>>>
>>>On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in
>>>protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most
>>>places.
>>>
>>>There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet
>>>network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill ;up.
>>>
>>>If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
>>>$2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companies
>>>pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May
>>>15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for
>>>at least one day.
>>>
>>>If you agree (which I cant see why you wouldn't) resend this to all your
>>>contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May 15th"

And here is 1 reply to it:

"I'm making signs as soon as I send this email, I remember the 97 event and
we did not have the internet to spread the word and it worked, WOW can't
wait to see this one!!!!!"

Everyone is paying too much, maybe its time we fight back with the only vote we have. Our money, we trust to God. Lets not give it to them for one day.

One day without gas revenue won't impact them anymore than one day without TV will. They have so much money that if we stopped buying gas altogether, they'd have enough to live on from now until they died comfortably. You'll need to think of another way of solving the problem, me thinks.

Wow, the protest was because of fuel prices, and not about saving the environment?
