KABUL, Afghanistan - More than 1,000 NATO and Afghan troops clashed with Taliban and took over control of a district center in southern Afghanistan long held by the militants, officials and witnesses said Saturday.

The troops used helicopters, armored vehicles and infantry in their push toward the town of Sangin in Helmand province, the world's biggest opium-producing region, NATO's International Security Assistan

The Taliban seem to be getting more and more "hidden" and it is harder to find them, or so I heard. How is it we are consistently fighting and finding them?

Well this was expected the Taliban had said once spring arrived they were going to conduct attacks in Afghanistan.

The President Karzai met with the Taliban within the last 2 days and I posted a thread on the meeting.

I found it troubling that he would do this as this tells me that the Taliban are regaining influence in the country.
