I tend to like mainly rock, alternative, indie, punk, new wave, ambient dub, acid house, techno, fusion, trance, etc... BUT there are times when a song hits home regardless of what genre it is.

Here's a good folk song that expresses the sign of our times:

James McMurtry -Wikipedia

We Can't Make It Here Band Version mp3
First couple of seconds on the band version sounds rather strange, It gets much better.

We Can't Make It Here Acoustic Version mp3

A homemade video compilation of "We Can't Make It Here":

If this industrial rocker likes it, maybe you do too?

I really like the band version of James McMurtry, a great video too. Sounds Grunge to me, I can dig that.

For you I have a Dylan, with guaranty you've never heard before, a very rare number, and maybe an even more rare performance with Tom Petty on lead guitar.

The score was originally written for a movie "Band Of The Hand" and has never been included in any compilations or other official releases. Only a 1986 maxi-single exists. And I do think this is one of the less than a handful of occasions he performed it live. What's more, it is reasonable footage and a great sound.

Its not metal, but grunge?? - maybe. Enjoy ...and check out the lyrics.

Bob Dylan - Buffalo 1986

The number he plays is It's Hell Time Man - click the link for lyrics.

Nice find, Khunmoon. Let's hope that the cheering throngs at the end of the video have some conscience left in them twenty-one years later.

(It's from the year my kid was born, him too!)

A Dylan tune from the 60's:

"With God on Our Side":

Oh my name it is nothin'
My age it means less
The country I come from
Is called the Midwest
I's taught and brought up there
The laws to abide
And that land that I live in
Has God on its side.

Oh the history books tell it
They tell it so well
The cavalries charged
The Indians fell
The cavalries charged
The Indians died
Oh the country was young
With God on its side.

[Fast Forward]

In a many dark hour
I've been thinkin' about this
That Jesus Christ
Was betrayed by a kiss
But I can't think for you
You'll have to decide
Whether Judas Iscariot
Had God on his side.

So now as I'm leavin'
I'm weary as Hell
The confusion I'm feelin'
Ain't no tongue can tell
The words fill my head
And fall to the floor
If God's on our side
He'll stop the next war.
