Can you provide a source which suggests the number of drops is being reduced due to costs. I often see military parachutists and the frequency of drops does not seem to have diminished.

To be honest mate, I can't.

Why? Well when I first posted this thread in September of last year, this was certainly the case and it was reported in several of the tabliods. There was also a report in the House of Commons Defence Committe - see link below:

I have several friends in one of the premier UK parachute units who told me that jump days were cancelled, often at the last moment. [One can only presume this is due to aircraft availability rather than cost alone]

No 1 PTS holds courses at Brize and run jump courses at Weston-on-the-Green and the Army still uses Netheravon but whether these courses are for new recruits or requalification, it is hard to find out.
