European: Barca move for Maxi

Barcelona have tabled a 5.5 million euro offer for Argentine starlet Maxi Lopez - according to his club River Plate.

The 20-year-old striker was believed to be on the verge of completing a move to Benfica, but Barcelona's late interest has seen that transfer stall. Lopez is known to favour a switch to Spain, and is reported to be 'very proud' at the interest in him from Barcelona.

though, when you look at it, the last two argentina guys who played at barcelona juan pablo sorin and riquelme didnt do that good for them, sorin has left and ruquelme is out on loan at villerial and doing well. can he make the impact required?
