Former Germany striker Carsten Jancker will end his Serie A nightmare this summer by returning to his homeland with Kaiserslautern, providing they
A three-year contract has been agreed in principle and will be activated provided Kaiserslautern maintain their top-flight status.
That became an increasingly likely prospect after a 3-2 home win over Wolfsburg on Saturday, however they can still be caught and dragged down into
the bottom three.
Jancker, 29, will leave Italian club Udinese where he has spent two frustrating seasons, scoring just two goals to date.
He has lost his place in the national team set-up, despite being able to boast 33 caps.
Jancker was a member of the Germany squad at the 2002 World Cup, when Rudi Voller's team reached the final.
The 6ft 4in forward's contract is up at Udinese, who he joined from Bayern Munich in summer 2002, after falling out of favour at the club where he won
four Bundesliga titles and the Champions League in 2001.
