Boxing: Magee gets European Title shot

By Ant Evans: After been left absolutely crestfallen by the 11th hour disintegration of his WBO title shot against Joe Calzaghe at the Belfast King's Hall last month, Irish super-middleweight Brian Magee's career is now back on track. The former IBO title-holder, 23-1 (16), has been nominated to face unbeaten Vitali Tsypko, 15-0 (9), for the vacant European championship.

Manager Pat Magee telephoned SecondsOut and said: "We're absolutely delighted and this is great news for Brian after the bitter disappointment of the Calzaghe situation. The European title is a fantastic way for Brian to move forward, it's a real title and European champions are always given high ratings by the WBC."
