Darren Gough has revealed how he held major reservations about whether to accept an invitation to continue playing for England on their controversial one-day series in Zimbabwe.

The Essex seamer has been a key part of England's one-day set-up for the past 10 years, but he was expected to miss out on selection this winter after a disappointing display in Saturday's ICC Champions Trophy final defeat against West Indies at the Oval.

Gough conceded 58 runs in his 10 overs as West Indies completed a dramatic two-wicket victory.
