just got back from belize celebrating my 40th.
first off, belize is a really great place for adventuring. innland is really worth checking out.
jaguar paw, ian anderson's caves branch, and back-a-bush tours.
there are several life-zones there ranging from savannah to sub tropical zones.

of course the diving is par non as your right on the barrier reef.
if your looking for that special "beach" vacation, belize is not the place to do it, so think elsewhere for this type of down-time.

one word of caution, stay away from caye caulker. it's a small, poor caye (key) off of the mainland, and the general vibe is "getting cased" by the locals. unless it's high season where you can hide (so to speak) within the masses.
we got ripped off 2 times. (around $1200. total)

BUT, belize is an amazing spot and i'd highly recommend it to anyone. you can do 300 ft. repels into giant caves, zip line through jungle canopies, etc. a serious adventure destination.

ok, enough of plugging belize.

places i've gotten to go to:

- alaska
- japan
- singapore
- diego garcia
- phillipines (when it was US occupied)
- playa del carmen (before it was wrecked by tourism) / did the entire yukatan
- fiji: matamanoa island (serious beach vacation get away)
- belize (inland and way out to light house reef)

travel is priceless, don't wait till your old to enjoy this great planet and its nature.
