this cain't be real. if they have this technology so does the usa. and if they do have this technology, then why do we keep nasa space shuttles. they would be obsolete now. with this technology , they must have cities in space. cause if they could do this all ,then all they have to do, is build a huge space station on earth and use that technology they have (FLYING THE SHIPP) and move the huge spacestation into space.

If you can make an aircraft carrier fly with a new propulsion system why do you still need the planes?

If I had to guess I would say the aircraft carrier in the lake is used to train pilots to take off and land on it.

I've seen a pic of this somewhere before. Obviously this is NOT an operational Aircraft Carrier in the traditional sense. This is training carrier for pilots and folks that launch and land aircraft. The story I saw talked about how it saved the Chinese military millions of dollars in operating costs to train pilots this way. The "housing" that you see lakeside are actually barracks for the military personnel in training.

I still can't believe that some people took the "Flying carrier" joke seriously.

I think you'll find it's part of a theme park and the carrier is a life size "model" or replica, call it what you will.

I recall hearing something about when I visited ther some time ago but can't find the details right now.

LOL,

That’s the decomissioned Russian anti-submarine carrier Minsk. The Minsk is a floating museum outside Shenzhen.

The Minsk was purchased with the Kiev in the 1991’s. The Kiev is a tourist attraction as well…in Tianjin.

Flying aircraft carrier!!! lol!.

I think it's an hoax like that Soviet one with their fake nuclear powered jet.

If it was purchased by the Soviet Union, how did they get it in that lake?

I think it was built on spot as an attraction as stated by Chinawhite.

They was purchased by China from the Soviet Union.

Use the map provided, the bridges to the west are not complete and under construction, follow the waterway to the coast.

Also....

Senior defense officials in Japan and Southeast Asia were intrigued when Chinese companies bought two decommissioned Russian antisubmarine carriers, the Minsk and Kiev, but speculation that these would have some military role in China proved groundless.

The Minsk was converted into a floating museum in Shenzhen, and the Kiev is also being modified, to serve as a floating tourist attraction in Tianjin

And for goodness sake it called “Minsk World” It's also a casino with shows!

Or look Here

They probibly took it apart or carried it by helicopter or something stupid like that.

If anyone rad the link, it actually makes the point that is the outline of the Nitmiz class carrier, which means its not the Minsk. It wouldn't have been economically feasible to take the carrier apart and then ship it by helicopter then put it back together again, its 45,000+ tons!!!!

If anyone would like pictures of Mirsk world let me know and i will upload them

Did a search for Minsk World on Google, and Google gave me a satellite image of that same exact image as posted by the original poster of this thread.

I guess it is Minsk World. I still don't see where they cut into the land to get the Carrier in, it's not far from the sea, but still, how deep and how wide would the canal have to be?

It seems like a massive dredging operation just for a carrier amusement park. I would love to go though.

Yes China, You conquer that lake! Winning the hearts and minds of the local chinese residents by defeating the scurge of the evil lake monster people! One battle at a time, one battle at a time.

Honestly I think they scaled down the aircraft carrier so it wouldn't look as impressive. That way the chinese would visit the park and be like Oh dat how big american cawwier are? Whe dey don't seem too impwessive, the china govt. was wihte dose americans are nodding to fear.

you kidding me... it's just a small parking building, has nothing to do with nationalism or racism!!!

a lot americans are so close minded that they think everything happening in china is government related....

it's just a theme park building build in a shape of an aircraft carrier for creating an exciting atmosphire. you see this type of things even in Disneyland and Wonderland for good sake.

I smell chinese government conspiracy!!! Seriously it is a good way to reassure the chinese public about chinas superiority. They made the military weapon of their advesary look small and attempted to demean it for the sake or reassuring the chinese population. I say build a real sized aircraft carrier and let them park another 1000 cars in there. It's a propaganda attemp.

Quote from the link above:

''Actually, it is just a really, really cool looking building. Namely, it is the award winning (for creative architecture) "Military Education Center" at the "Orient Green Boat After-School Camp for Youngsters." ''

After-school camp for Youngsters??

Is that like the Nazi Youth Leagues?
