I took my IQ test at
www.highiqsociety.org... some time back. I took the Ultimate IQ test that is there, and got a 132. I have taken others,
and gotten up to 150. BTW, IQ tests aren't that difficult to master. The best thing you can do is take a few, and reverse engineer them. Figure out
how they ask their questions, and what types/categories those questions fall under. The ones you have difficulty with, PRACTICE! That was all I did.
There was a question that was like:
"If the day before, two days after tomorrow is MOnday, what is today?"
Or something like that. It was more complicated though. I was trying to come up with a strategy to defeat it, and finally just decided to go with a
guess.
The spacial questions are difficult for me too, but I think I have mastered them. They take a cube (for instance) and unfold it so that it is flat.
Then they show you a list of like 6 folded cubes at the bottom and ask you which one ISN'T it. That one took some doing as well, but was easier for
me than the day one I mentioned above I think because I could see it. There really isn't any excuse NOT to pass those because all you have to do is
a process of elimination. For each of the choices you will only be able to see 3 sides. You need to match up each choice with the unfolded figure
above. If you take it 1 side at a time, it is easier, but it takes longer. If you are the impatient type, you might not try this. I am not
altogether convinced it takes genius to perform these activities, because I don't consider myself to be particularly smart. I have known people with
180+ IQ's, and you can tell just by talking to them that they have a pretty good grasp of most stuff. BTW, the person with the highest IQ alive in
the Guiness Book of World Records is Marilyn Vos Savant. I wonder if that is where the term "idiot-savant" came from, but I am not sure. Anyway,
she is the editor of People magazine (if I remember correcltly) and has a weekly column called "ask Marilyn" in a little magazine called the Parade.
If you subscribe, I would definitely read it. She strikes me as someone who is more than just smart, but has wisdom as well, something I think we
need more of these days.
