Just as Boolmbers reports today that Airbus in modifying again its A350 design and made mostly of carbon composites that will be flying in 2013 according to Airbus, five years after the 787, I foud this article that talks about it with Frank Statkus, Boeing's VP of advanced technology and processes for the 787 program, who used to be JSF General Manager, Boeing F-22 vice president and program manager. And before that he was chief engineer for the Boeing portion of the B-2 bomber program...

Hopefully some will consider the implications of miltary R&D contracts for Boeing when complaining about Airbus' government grants.

The case to ban the loans is not as clear as it would seem on first glance.

EADS recently recieved a lot of military R&D from European countries too. Maybe even more than Boeing. And if they want more EU should invest more into the military and stop whinning...

- A handful of recent EADS programs is hardly on a par with receiving the decades of vast amounts of US taxpayers money in defense contracts and soft R&D funding.

Maybe even more than Boeing.

- God no; you must be kidding.

- What whining?

The only 'whining' I've ever seen connected to Airbus/EADS is when US contractors moan about the European system of repayable Gov loans....... as they themselves have gotten decades of soft R&D money & umteen military contracts.
Brazen and shameless are not the words!

.....and as for 'us' wasting increasing vast fortunes on so-called 'defense' spending?
No thanks, we'll leave that revolting waste of talent & resources to the USA and pity the grip that madness has on that country.

We'll leave the USA all alone to their criminally wasteful, pointless and grotesquely expensive arms race against itself and it's absurd paranoia and imagined 'global threats'.

We'll just stand in wonder at just how come the people in the USA put up with a political leadership who insist on bigger and bigger military budgets and that there is a higher threat from low-tech 'terrorists' (mostly to be found within specific countries in the ME) than the days of WARPAC & the old Soviet Union.

We prefer not to create and bloat out to ever increasing degrees the 'military industrial complex' even America's most experienced military President warned America about.
Pity the USA eventually elected those hell-bent on achieving what Eisenhower warned they would try to do.

Anyhoo, we will stick to spending the minimum of what is 'needed' and go with a far far better balance of investing in our society and people.

Stop whining? It was Boeing that started all the whining. Boeing has also weakened its own case by witholding certain information, which is not the action of someone with confidence in having a solid case, is it?
