I've got thee cutest avi clip of Maggie (from The Simpsons) dancing...

a) Am I legally allowed to use it as an avatar?

b) How do I convert the avi file to whatever it is I need (what *do* I need?) to make it my avatar? (Is it even possible?)

Thanks ahead of time!!

Well first of all you would need to convert the image to a .gif file.

The main issue you have in front of you is getting the file under the 75kb file limit ATS permits on avatars. Also, they must be within the 160x320 pixels.

Well poo.

The avi file is not huge, only 568kB... and that's with the audio attached, which I know wouldn't be part of the avatar/.gif.

How to convert it on a (retarded) mac, that's a different issue altogether. (Tons of programs for windows...)

To quote Mr(s). Garrison: 'Poop on a stick!'

Ah well. Guess I'll find something different then. *sigh*

Thanks for your help Crissler!

I could try to make it a gif if you want me too.

If I want to make an avatar using something from a movie, I play the movie and pause it where I want to grab the image then take a screenshot with a utility that does that. Then you can edit it in Photoshop or other image manipulation program.
