Here's another article from that website:

Penn State Strikes Deals with Napster, Budweiser
(2003-11-06) -- Just hours after signing an agreement with Napster to provide free music downloads to Penn State students, the university inked a deal with Budweiser to supply free beer as well.

"Our students have been illegally downloading music," said Penn State President Graham Spanier. "Since we can't stop that, we've decided to buy the music for them. The same applies with the beer. Illegal drinking is rampant at Penn State and we can't stop it. We used to just run public service announcements about how cool it is to be sober. Of course that didn't work either. So from now on...the beer's on us."

Mr. Spanier will be featured in an upcoming Budweiser advertisement as part of the brewer's "Real Men of Genius" series.

God, you guys can be retards sometimes. I wish I had actually clicked on the website...

Dont worry, Nerdling, about the French bombing you. Just point a gun at them and they will surrender.

My Beef with the French, Flinx, for your info, is from personal experiences there. I was actually quite happy at first when France was going to oppose the war, I actually thought the whole thing made them ill, until I figured out and remebered they opposed it for thier own financial interests. Then my respect dropped. I realized no one opposed the war or supported it for truy noble humanitarian reasons

I am not sure that Lousianna has been that great a deal anyways?

Has it?

Regarding Canada, there is lots up here, come up some time and see for yourself. Admittedly there are a lot less people up here than in the US but I can assure you there is a lot up here all the same.

Here you want to here the weird thing. France never actually owned the Louisiana Purchase area. The Spanish gave that area to the French for things in return but the French never paid up and then turned around and sold it to us, I find that pretty funny. They are getting all mad over land they never actually owned. I wonder if Spain wants their land back. I would like to see them try.

But of course....France, Germany, and Russia didn't want us to conquer Iraq because they had some good deals going on there. We wanted to conquer Iraq so WE could get a bunch of dough.

You know, being a History buff, that whole thing just reminds me of 19th century colonial powers bickering over resource-rich pieces of land. Conquering, reconquering, backstabbing each other diplomatically, etc. I guess things don't change...

"At least one way of measuring the freedom of any society is the amount of comedy that is permitted, and clearly a healthy society permits more satirical comment than a repressive, so that if comedy is to function in some way as a safety release then it must obviously deal with these taboo areas. This is part of the responsibility we accord our licensed jesters, that nothing be excused the searching light of comedy. If anything can survive the probe of humour it is clearly of value, and conversely all groups who claim immunity from laughter are claiming special privileges which should not be granted."----Eric Idle

Yep, Flinx, thats what I keep saying.

Colonialism. Dosnt matter whether its the US or Europe, they may wear different crowns, but the same imperialst pork lies underneath.

The sad thing is, in this whole mess, no one ever thoguht about what was best for Iraq. The EU wanted thier cut, thier Euro, the US wanted thier dollar, thier oil. The jihadists want thier religion, thier ideals, and Iraq as a toool for furthering it, Israel wanted aa dangerous opponent out of the way.......

and yet no one stood up and said, but what about IRAQ?

Skadi,

to a point I agree with you.

but those Iraqi's like their pot and DVD's and satellite dishes and .... and... just like anyone else.

why don't we ask the average Iraqi on the street what they want?

see the lefties only care what the UN or France or Germany or the Cleric enforcers in Iraq want. Or they are obsessed with creating images of negativity that further their own agenda, but why don't we ask the average Iraqi what they want? Ignore those flunkies that used to be Saddam's followers.

Actually at times the US administration has tried to ask the average guy on the street and they did this in the beginning of the war, I know I saw it on TV. But the left wing press tore it to shreds.

Something tells me that the left do not have an honourable motives regards their crying and whining about Iraq nor does the rest of the middle east.

Like the Palestinians. No one gives a # about them, not the Arabs, who only use them as a platform fo thier own motives. No Arab country, even tho it is well within thier capabilities, lifted a serious finger in true defense of Palestine. They are now in the same boat as Iraq.

If you ask the average Iraqi waht they want, they will tell you:

An Iraqi state run and controled by Iraqis with thier culture, thier needs, thier wishes in mind, and the US to butt its big nose out of it. US out. Period. They dont want to be cultural satelties for the US, they dont want to be Americanized.

They want thier own culture, thier own govornment, control of thier own destiny, and nt to be a spineless puppet of the US. Unfortunately, this admin has no intntion of giving them that.

Its the golden rule: allow other what you want for yourself. What do I want for America? Self determination of our own way of life. Something i believe in for all countries, whether or not I find thier culture distasteful and disgusting.

Skadi,

that is fine but they cannot avoid the 21st century much longer.

secondly they cannot be an outpost for the misplaced anger of the middle east towards the western world.

lastly I am of the mistaken impression that a number of decades ago, Iraq was quite happily one of the most modern (by western standards at least), of all the middle eastern states. What happened?

Sounds like several decades of brain washing to me. Sorry but I cannot defend that. Being Muslim is one thing but being medieaval and narrow minded and repressive are other things IMHO.

Nerdling is a Brit.

NEO.........

Iraq WAS the most advanced country in the middle east. Socially progressive, Saddam was NOT an Islamic leader, he was, as the jihadists called him, a "godless socialist", hence, why the rest of the middle east once opposed his UnIslamic stance on things.

During the first part of his reign...........

Women were allowed to work, held high positions int he govornment, did not have to wear veils. medicine and education in Iraq were very advanced. Iraq was VERY progressive.

Until 10 years of US sanctions and bombing them into the dark ages forced Saddam to put the smack down and start getting less progressive in order to rally support from Islamic Jihadists to atempt to bridge gaps and get support against the US.

It is not for us to decide when the middle east or any country joins the 21st century. It is for THEM to decide if and when.

And we need to get OFF thier oil resources and on to something that can be produced cheaply at home.
