On the day of a hearing involving the leak of Valerie Plame, concerning Lewis "Scooter" Libby, a bomb-sniffing dog encountered a suspicious package, that led to the evacuation of the E. Barrett Prettyman Federal Courthouse. Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald and eight associates were escorted out of the building, following the discovery. All judges were moved across the street to another courthouse, pending investigation into the matter.

WASHINGTON - A federal courthouse within sight of the Capitol was evacuated Wednesday morning when a suspicious package was found near the building.

Sheldon Snook, chief of staff to Chief Judge Thomas Hogan, said fire alarms were sounded and the building was cleared shortly after 9:30 a.m. as a precaution. Law enforcement officials were surveying the area around the building’s Constitution Avenue entrance.

Evacuation of the E. Barrett Prettyman Federal Courthouse occurred shortly before a hearing was to begin in the CIA leak case.

Let's hope that everything will be all right. This is at a time when Libby's defense team has been fighting tooth and nail to get this case thrown out. A bomb scare is only going to delay the hearing and push back what was supposed to happen today.

Fascinating that Libby, nor his team, had yet to arrive. Tipped off maybe?
