Did anyone else think it was odd that CNN chose this photo to show on thier website last week covering the Atlantis landing?

I'm guessing the two diamonds are effects from the light source on the left. But, I just found it odd that CNN would post a pic with an odd effect when they have a ton of shots to choose from


Looks pretty cool, in any case.

Looks like lens reflection from something bright.
Like those lights to the left.

I had a 'duh' moment
saw the lights on the left, and edited my original post before I saw your reply.


Still looks pretty wierd, though.

I have seen something similar that was explained to me as a camera aperture artefact - some ufo documentaries say something similar, some don't.

Never seen two on one photo though and my experience with it was on an mid '90's Sony HandiCam mounted to a roadrace bike... it would appear on the video we'd record only on certain corners of the track - most likely because of interaction with the angle of the sun... it didn't seem THAT sunny in your photo tho'.
