UK withholds World Bank donation

The UK is withholding £50m it had pledged to the World Bank in protest at the way it fights corruption. International Development Secretary Hilary Benn voiced concerns that the Bank is forcing too many conditions on aid given to poorer countries.

Will the world bank take much notice of this? there have been stories of them imposing unreasonable rules and regs for some time and yet this is the first sign i have seen of any western nation responding to it? on the other hand corruption should always be oposed otherwise it will end up just dragging the country involved down into ever increasing problems
