this is a direct appeal to all u.s. members to do something NOW to keep the internet as it is.

you see, there is a plan by certain companies to create a two-tiered internet for those who can afford to pay for decent service and for those who cant. at the moment, it is done on a first come first serve basis, meaning your email, mp3 or ats conspiracy page is given the same priority as everything else on the net.

a quick skim through a few of these news stories will show you what the danger will be if this two-tiered internet allowed to go ahead

keep net neutrality

ebay joins in

black hat neutrality test

pc magazine plea

if you value the internet and want it to stay that way, write to your senators, representatives and members of congress NOW and tell them you want net neutrality kept. sign petitions wherever you find them. email your friends and ask them to do the same.

remember - it will be sites like this which will pushed to the bottom of the pyramid

We are on it, signing partitions and writing senators. Unfortunately our reps in Alabama are into big business.

One word:

That may not be an option for all, but the telcos are famous for sticking it to customers.

Cable's not much better, but if you bundle internet access with TV, you can do pretty well, since most people can't seem to get by without cable TV, anyway.

thanks alabamacajun. your actions are very much appreciated

this site save the internet has a senator tracker so you can see where your senators stand on the issue and also how to contact them.

gradyphilpott, its also some of the cable companies that want this change to happen so switching companies would make no difference if is allowed. the problem is going to happen at the backbone level and it will affect the whole world which has to use this backbone for internet access. its not a simple case of the service you buy but the service you are forced to have.

members, read the faq on the above site to see what the implications of losing net neutrality are. notice the list of supporters for net neutrality and then question why companies like microsoft, google, intel, ebay, amazon, yahoo etc all want net neutrality kept.

some companies have already started blocking sites they dont approve of or are not favourable to themselves. how long do you think a site like this would last if someone at the top decided it had to go?

u.s. members please, please take more interest in this and do it NOW because you wont be able to complain about it when its gone.
