My pet peeve, bureaucracy, is up to it's old tricks again.

A woman in the UK has had to take her dead husbands ashes to court because, despite repeatedly telling them, and sending them his death certificate, the council pencil pushers managed to completely ignore her and continued to send him summons to court.


Despite her efforts Stockton Borough Council persisted in sending out bills for unpaid council tax, before eventually issuing a summons against her 42-year-old dead partner, saying he owed £805 in unpaid council tax.

In desperation Mrs Moon, 43, attended Teesside Magistrates Court clutching an urn with his ashes in, and when asked by a court usher where Mr McMillan was, simply nodded at the urn.

Stunned council officers who were in the building for the hearing intervened and told her she need not go into the courtroom.

I hate bureaucracy, this could have been avoided if workers actually acted like humans instead of trying to emulate a faulty computer and basing their whole "operation" on paperwork and protocol.
