The new tv series X-Testers was released on thursday June 15 by The Learning Channel and will be broadcast every thursday. The X-Testers team are experts in special effects trying to recreate paranormal phenomena reported and originally recorded on video.

The purpose is to try to determine if the original footage may be a hoax using conventional not CGI procedures. All the recreations are made using mechanical artifacts, scale models and even elaborated disguises and masks to recreate a bigfoot for example in this episode where some famous ghost cases were also recreated.

Next show on thursday June 22 will be interesting. In Flying Creatures and UFOs the X-Testers team will try to recreate some famous UFO cases as well as those mysterious flying humanoids and other bizarre creatures.

According to the X-Testers people the show is not intended to debunk those cases
involving video evidence by recreating similar conditions. It's just a different perspective investigating each case but keeping an open mind to the phenomena.

At the end the original witnesses will decide if the recreation was convincing enough to change their minds.

I think it's a cool idea - especially if it's done in an open minded manner. It'd be interesting to see if some recreations are possible - and how close to the original sightings they can get it.

How expert are these guys though - hopefully they are specialists in the fields they are investigating and/or call in professionals with credentials to verify or assist with data collection and applying theories...

I always wonder though...like Myth Busters - what are these guys' credentials? Are they "real" specialists and by who's account are they deemed such?

The MB Guys utilize a lot of major help in their investigations...hopefully these new guys will be as careful and methodical as well as entertaining.

Thanks for the heads up

Sounds cool. I must have missed the adds for it. I don't watch much TV. Usually my wife will get me hooked on something every once in a while. Now that Ghost Hunters is off for a few months it sounds worth checking out. Thanks for the post.
