Rush Limbaugh was arrested on prescription drug charges but will pay a $30 thousand dollar fine. If he stays clean for 18 months he will have this
record erased. We have so many political advocates for equal justice under law, and the rule of law in particular. How often does all of this measure
up to the highest standards? His attorney has practiced the fine art of continuances at a hefty price to be sure. Inadequate representation has been a
deep problem for many people in the legal system. Rush Limbaugh is not only a celebrity, but a spokesman elite for the Republican right. In a way it
is strange that he has been dangling for such a time, when you consider discretionary enforcement and the vague estimation of who is not prosecuted
for anything similar when powerful. Perhaps he has been a little bit of a disobedient minion. However you call it, money ever too often makes things
right, when principles should suffice.

Limbaugh reaches settlement in prescription drug charges
Limbaugh turned himself in to authorities about 4 p.m. on a warrant for fraud to conceal information to obtain a prescription, the first charge in the
nearly 3-year-old case, said Teri Barbera, a spokeswoman for the state attorney. He was released an hour later on $3,000 bail.
Limbaugh's attorney, Roy Black, said his client and prosecutors reached a settlement on a charge of doctor shopping.
Under the deal, Limbaugh would eventually see the charge dismissed in 18 months if he continues treatment for drug addiction, Black said.

It looks like Rush gets a better deal than he wants to give to others. But that is something that should be strange, whereas it is all too
commonplace in our world, where the golden rule succumbs to amnesia. Should we be fair to even to those who are not fair to others? Well maybe our
legal system has its flaws, but it can be fair when everyone concerned wakes up to their own responsibilites.
