Sorry if this is a repost. I just heard about this new Discovery Channel series...

www.discoverychannel.ca...

The World's Strangest UFO Stories
Premiering: Sunday April 2 at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT
Regular Timeslot: Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT

Are we alone? From Orson Welles' War of the Worlds to Steven Spielberg's E.T., the very possibility that other life forms exist continues to capture our imagination.

Unexplained crashes obliterating the landscape, reports of secret alien-human breeding programs and mysterious creatures draining the blood of innocent animals, The World's Strangest UFO Stories, uncovers the truth about the biggest, best and most extraordinary alien tales of all time.

This new six-part series premieres with two back-to-back episodes on Sunday, April 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT before settling into its regular timeslot Friday, April 7 at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT.

Cheeky and just a touch skeptical, The World's Strangest UFO Stories tracks down witnesses and victims who believe they've experienced close encounters of the alien kind, and meets the experts, conspiracy theorists and the E.T. obsessed who have made it their mission to uncover the truth - once and for all.

Uhhh the shows seem a bit weird...

I saw the first ep online and downloaded it, and its pretty much as you'd expect... *some* important info is covered while vast swathes are left out, much to the dismay of this viewer.

But never worry, they try to make you laugh, which is what this is all about right? Lets laugh at ufos and conspiracy nuts cos they're nuts and that funny! Woohoo!

Wouldn't surprise me if the entire series followed this format, but I'd be glad if 'they' stopped trying to put these subjects in an "info-tainment" programme style. It just doesn't work.

I get the feeling this show is going to focus on making fun of crazy people.

I think the same narrator did a show for the BBC last year, where he took a stick, tied a rope to it, and put it in Loch Ness. He waited for people to come by, then would pull on the stick and bring it above the water (unbeknownst to the observers). He then asked the people to draw what they had seen so that no one would foget.

Everyone except one person drew an eleborate head of a pleasuarus. Only one woman bless her soles, drew a bump that looked like a stick.

We are 80% of the observation equation.

Having worked in the entertainment industry for a number of years I can tell you these people are not concerned with truth or even educating you. Theyre concerned about the most outlandish claims and trying to present them as "real".

Thats ratings. Thats advertising revenue, and if the production costs less then the ad sales generated, thats what their bottom line is.

These people read the interent too, and know that sex (porn) and ufos are two of the hottest searched topics.

I saw it when it first came on and it was lame. From what I remember the show used old sci-fi movies as the dramatizations for the stories.
