Introduction –
Welcome to Serpo. In order to make your stay on Serpo a safe and enjoyable one, your tour guides ask you to fasten your seatbelts, return your tray tables to their upright and locked positions, and "suspend disbelief" in the overheard compartment above you. Once underway, we ask that you consider the following information in its entirety, and in light of all of the reasonable theories, when coming to your own interpretation. Only then will you be able to make an informed decision on whether this is the beginning of authentic disclosure, a prank, a hoax, a disinformation campaign, or perhaps something else. If there is one lesson that you will learn, as you take our tour, there are no shortage of theories. What we are lacking is any sort of credible proof that Serpo is anything more than the musings of one or more pranksters that have managed to acquire the attention of what seems to be the entire internet discussion on extraterrestrials.

We set the stage in the waning days of November, 2005. Late one night, a post appeared

www.abovetopsecret.com...

on the ATS Aliens & UFO forum bringing Serpo to the attention of ATS members and readers. But oddly, it turns out that this wasn't the first post about Serpo.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

This post turns out to be the first mention of Serpo -- just a few hours earlier, but appears to have been consumed by the later-founded thread. Even more curious is that "thirty3" made that one and only post on ATS... never to return. So with our first of many mysteries under our belt, we give you Serpo.

Initial Contact
UFO Crashes
Anonymous grabs your attention immediately by stating the UFO crash at Roswell did occur, but “not like the story books tell”, so right from the start, Anon is both confirming and contradicting existing theories.

EBE’s and J-rod
Anonymous claims there were alien bodies recovered at the UFO crash site along with one survivor. The Extraterrestrial Biological Entity (EBE) was allowed to send a message back to his planet and communications between Earth and the Ebens (name derived from EBE) were established. Initial contact was made when the Ebens landed in 1964, and eventually an exchange program was planned.

The purported exchange involved several EBE’s coming to Earth to work with scientists, and the question of J-rod was brought up, but for some reason Anonymous said that information was still classified.

Language and Communications
Throughout the Serpo story there were several descriptions of difficulty with communicating with the Eben’s. They used translation devices and there were team members and EBE’s who were able to learn each other’s language and they functioned as the translators.

The Exchange Program

The Team Members
The purported exchange program consisted of sending twelve US military personnel to the planet Serpo of the Zeta Reticuli star system, beginning in the year 1965 and returning in 1978. Two of the members had died while on the planet, and 2 had stayed on Serpo when the project ended. Eight of the original twelve returned to Earth.

Later a list was made of the team members that went by code names instead of using their real names. The codes were three digit numbers that designated the position that that member served. Later it was discovered in the journal entries that member 308 had died during the trip, and there appeared to be a thirteenth member.

Team Materials and Equipment
The exchange team was allowed to take materials for the trip that consisted of food and equipment. Originally Anon stated that they took 9,000 lbs. of materials, but later corrected that weight to 90,500lbs. Later in a journal entry, the materials were described to arrive on 16 pallets and this brought up a debate on pallet weight restrictions.

The Trip and the Effects of FTL Travel
The trip supposedly took 9 months to travel 39.5 light years, and the team members suffered from nausea and dizziness during the trip. They lost track of time immediately after leaving Earth, and could not keep track of the days. They also came to the conclusion that the laws of physics did not appear to follow the same laws as they do on Earth. Eventually the team members gave up trying to track Earth time and continued using Eben time.

The Journal Entries
On December 6, 2005 Bill Ryan made an appearance on the radio show Coast to Coast with George Noory, and talked about Project Serpo. After the show, Anonymous posted again saying he was pleased with the show and then made the promise of more disclosure including journal entries from a team member and the now infamous, but totally invisible, photographs. He did come through by posting the journal entries of the team commander, but no photographs have ever been posted.

Later Journal Entries

While everyone was waiting for the photographs to be posted, it apparently looked like Anon had stopped (or was stopped) posting new information. As time went on, many thought that the Serpo story was a hoax and the game was over. Then after a month of waiting, new information was sent directly to Bill Ryan, instead of through Victor Martinez. The new information was more journal entries that continued after the previous entries, as if nothing had happened. The problem though is the entries seemed to be written in a different style, and they looked like they could be from a different source. In addition, it was clear that the ATS forum had become Bill’s center of attention as the new Anonymous post appeared within the ATS thread, and only later did this appear on Bill’s Serpo.org website.

The Ebens

Lifestyle

The Ebens on the planet led a simple life, living in huts and each of them attending to assigned duties. They apparently had a very simple form of government, and had very little crime.

Information on Serpo.og indicates they communicate with each other through thought, but create a high-pitched sound hard for some to handle, although the sounds were eventually understood by everyone on the team.

Eben Time

From Serpo.org - Ebens do not keep time in the same way we do on earth (see comments above in lifestyle). Many at ATS have come to the conclusion that they do not deal with time in increments, but rather comprehend time as “flowing” and as an order of events – leading to a very structured and ordered social system which many have likened to socialism, or even communism.

From Serpo.org - “The Ebens had a great interplanetary battle with another race about 3,000 years ago. The Ebens lost many thousands in their battle. The Ebens completely eliminated all of their enemies. The Ebens have never fought another war since.”

They called this war “The Great War”. It lasted 100 earth-years and used particle-beam weapons. Ebens destroyed the enemy planet.

The Zeta Reticuli star system

Interstellar Space Flight

Chris to write a summary paragraph for this.

Travel Time
Serpo Data: According to Postings 2 and 11, it took approximately nine months to travel to the Eben planet, located within the Zeta Reticuli Star System.

serpo.org... serpo.org...

Zeta Reticuli 1 (ZR1) and 2 (ZR2) are each over 39 light years from Earth (39.51 and 39.38 observed, respectively). Therefore, to complete such travel in the reported time would require a mastery of Faster-than-Light (FTL) travel. Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity, based on the Lorentz Transform, implies that in order for a (non-zero mass) object to reach c the speed of light (in a vacuum), an object must either accelerate for an infinite period of time or experience an infinite amount of acceleration over a finite period of time. Either scenario would require an infinite (i.e., non-quantifiable) amount of energy. However, there exist more than one scenario to support the theoretical possibility of FTL travel.

en.wikipedia.org...

Possible Explanations: There are several theoretical explanations which could allow for FTL travel. Remember that c refers to the speed of light in a vacuum… A brief synopsis may be found at:

en.wikipedia.org...

Some additional possibilities as they apply to the Serpo story may be found below:

Heim’s Quantum Theory
Of recent note is a paper which won a 2005 AIAA award for best paper in the Nuclear and Future Flight category. The paper, entitled Heim Quantum Theory of Space Propulsion Physics, is rooted in eight-dimensional quantum mechanics and would allow for Hyperspace travel at a rate of approximately 7.27 days per light year. Consequently, a trip to Zeta Reticuli would take approximately 287 days – less than three weeks difference from the time required as per the Serpo story.

While unproven and purely theoretical, this paper has received attention from the US Government, including the USAF, NASA, and Sandia National Laboratories.

en.wikinews.org..."Hyperspace_drive"_paper_gains_interest,_AIAA_award

www.newscientist.com...

String Theory
According to a paper published in 2000 by physicist Joe Polchinski and Raphael Busso, there may be as many as 10^500 vacuums – that’s a “10” followed by five hundred zeroes. Given the speed of light is different in different mediums, isn’t it possible that light travels much faster in other vacuums, which essentially provide different (and possibly unique) mediums though which light may travel?

www.superstringtheory.com...

www.mkaku.org...

www.newscientist.com...

Back to Einstein
While Einstein introduced his Special Theory of Relativity in 1905, he spent the next decade developing his General Theory of Relativity, which theoretically allows for the bending of spacetime, thereby allowing an object to move between two points at a rate of speed which would appear to an independent observer as faster than light.

Planet Serpo
The planet Serpo was within a binary star system, which gave it almost continues sunlight. The planet was hotter than Earth and thus difficult for the team members to adapt to. Many speculate as to whether it is possible to have a habitable planet within a close binary star system.

The Energy Device

From Serpo.org - An energy device on the large craft could power any electrical device regardless of demand. It was debated on ATS whether the intent of the description stating “regardless” of demand meant that the device could handle infinite demand. The narrator on serpo.org speculated that they tap into a vacuum and extract energy. Two energy devices were brought back to earth for study.

Here is the information Anon provided regarding the scientific study of these devices – they are 9" x 11" x 1.5", weight 26.7 oz and made of something similar to hard plastic. Electron microscope shows it contains small bubbles with small particles inside them, which move clockwise at great speed when demand is applied. There is an Unidentified fluid around the bubbles. Fluid changes color when demand is applied and becomes warm. Testing powered everything from a 0.5watt light bulb to an entire house.

The Players
Anon
Introducing himself only as "Request Anonymous", we naturally know nothing about the true identify of the "whistleblower". We're asked to believe that he's a retired DIA officer with access to the complete debriefing manual of Project Serpo, the alleged exchange program. He also claims to be working with five other former U.S. Government officials in providing this information to us.

Since this entire summary is, in essence, the story of Request Anonymous and his writings, no links are provided. And while there are many theories as to who he or she might be, none credible enough to mention at this time.

Bill Ryan
Bill Ryan is the webmaster of the serpo.org website and has become the mouthpiece for all issues relating to the release of information pertaining to the alleged Zeta Reticuli Exchange Program.

Bill first became aware of the Serpo story on a UFO mailing list, moderated by Victor Martinez. Bill was originally on another list moderated by Victor and was invited by him to join in the discussion. Bill decided to create the Serpo website as a means to present the information being sent to Victor in one place.

Bill joined the Serpo discussion on the ATS site on the December 15, 2005, thanks in large part as a result of an invitation by forum member Hemetae. He has been very active in the ongoing discussion ever since, with over 140 posts to date (and counting).

He has also participated in a number of Radio interviews, including Coast to Coast AM and Jerry Pippin, as well as the 2 out of 3 Amigos podcast interview with Springer and Skeptic Overlord here at ATS. (Link?)

Victor Martinez
Victor Martinez is a substitute teacher in the Los Angeles area. His forte is professed to be English grammar and writing style, and his own writing takes on a journalistic flair, as evidence by the sometimes sensationalism . Why he was chosen to initially be the "voice" of Serpo is unknown, but Victor's use of "WebTV", a rather arcane email system, has been suggested. It's also been ridiculed.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

And who is Victor? Is he Victor Thorn?
www.abovetopsecret.com...

Victor says no.
www.abovetopsecret.com...

All we truly know is that Victor Martinez has a number of "lists" of email addresses; one for UFO-related material. On this list are many famous and infamous names in Ufology, including military intelligence officers, journalists, and noted scientists. Anonymous allegedly lurked on this list for about six months before contacting Victor and telling him his story. Once he began to run the story, interest in Victor's list grew, swelling the number of list-members to close to 400, or so, as has been recently reported.

Richard Doty
Many red flags were raised when Richard Doty was apparently involved with the Serpo Story. He served as a counter-intelligence officer in the military back in the 80’s, and is a self-confessed disinformation agent. Because of his past many do not trust him and have suspected he was the source behind the Serpo. On December 6, 2005, Richard Doty and Bill Ryan made an appearance on the radio show Coast to Coast with George Noory. He also was coauthor of a book “Exempt from Disclosure” which was published in April of 2005, which was posted on the website and many thought that Serpo was an attempt to sell more books. Bill Ryan has gone on the record explaining that Richard Doty was not the source of the Serpo story, and was only involved in the C2C broadcast by his invitation.

However, early in the Serpo Saga, a review of “Exempt from Disclosure” by someone named Bill Ryan in the UK was discovered on Amazon.com and posted it to the ATS thread:

Dan Burisch
Dan Burisch is not directly connected to the Project Serpo, but some members thought he could be behind the anonymous posts. As it turns out, he and his supporters felt that Serpo.org was actually a competing disclosure effort to his own. According to Dan, who also claimed to work with J-rod, the Ebens were coming here to change our history timeline. He claimed that J-rod said, in the near future there will be a huge catastrophe and that the Ebens were a split species from humans that have come back in time to try to repair their own genetic flaws. J-rod was also supposed to be a negotiator of the Tau-9 treaty between the Ebens and humans, which Dan was involved with. Obviously, this story is incompatible with the story that Anon is disseminating, so the two camps are at odds.

Plausible Explanations
From the first posting by “Request Anonymous” to Victor Martinez on November 2, 2005, the “Project Serpo” story has generated a wide range of passions, explanations, and opinions.

While the sentiments at ATS have varied widely over time, and between individuals, the general nature of response has fallen largely within broader categories.

Among these are:

1. The “Project Serpo” information could be authentic.
2. The “Project Serpo” information is linked to an orchestrated Information Warfare (or “Disinformation”) campaign.
3. The “Project Serpo” story is a baseless hoax.

Within the three major categories, distinctive supporting arguments have, by now, become fairly established. Listed below is a brief index of some of the most useful materials, information, and opinions, regarding “Project Serpo”, and which can be found at both ATS and Serpo.org.

The “Project Serpo” information could be authentic.
Many details are consistent with established Ufological tenets:

Over the last half of December 2005, ‘Serpentime’ conducted an ATS poll in conjunction with, and at the suggestion of, Serpo.org web-master Bill Ryan.

The ATS POLL Question was given in two parts. Results as of January 3, 2006 can be viewed by clicking on this link:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

In addition, an anonymous Snap-poll was offered, which (although not scientific) produced slightly different opinions. These results can be viewed by clicking on these links

www.snappoll.com...

www.snappoll.com...

Those who identified themselves in the ATS Poll were more likely to interpret “Serpo” as either a hoax or a Disinformation ploy. Those who voted anonymously in the on-line Snap-poll were more likely to believe it authentic.

A similar poll of those on Victor’s email list conducted by Bill Ryan was similarly inconclusive:

Way too much time spent for something that someone is going to write a book about. Maybe you should with the crew could beat them at their own game. Just a thought. Maybe it would sell. You obviuosly have the time and a good direction where the blanks are flawed in the story and maybe a good ideal for a ending to the story. For 3000 pages can never come close to 12 years on another planet. Look at what the warren report produced for one day. Also you may want to change the time confussion factor.

Great detail work on helping them in a the book or movie to produce. With all of your research, you may want to check out a post many months ago for someone looking for info for book ideas. Perhaps with the computer hac...ers talent on this site, the true author of Serpo may be found.

Brevity is the soul of wit,
and for a team of ATSers to summarize so succintly
a massive thread like SERPO- well, that is nothing short of BRILLIANT!

I can only hope that the "2nd Edition" I heard mentioned
summarizes the only part I am still unclear about:

What happened in the last 3 or 4 days, with the GLOBAL IGNORE of Bill Ryan,
some BBC posting by a Martin Poulter, Bill Ryan's exit from ATS- all of that-
I am still stumped about this last chapter of the Serpo mystery!

Thanks so much again! GREAT JOB!

Of course, being me, I would love to see the sections titled in boldface.

Also, to aid in navigation, I recommend converting to "to-page links" of this form:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Doing this allow us to scroll up and down after following a link, see the posts in context and keep reading from those points if we choose to.

I'm aware that a conversion may seem daunting, but it would make the links immensely more helpful and perhaps SkepticOverlord can give tips or help with the conversion.

Some hierarchical reorganization may prove helpful as well, but that's largely subjective.

In light of how the truth about Bill Ryan has become more of a focus lately, some more emphasis on what he tells us about himself may prove helpful.

Good summary there

Although I haven't read all three hundred odd pages of the main serpo thread, I know that if something like this was true then it would be clamped down ASAP.

From this quote:

"While everyone was waiting for the photographs to be posted, it apparently looked like Anon had stopped (or was stopped) posting new information."

I would say that "Anon" was found (and silenced) at this point and time went by while the dis-info agents thought "how the f(_)ck are we going to get out of this one.

Firstly, to knock down something this HUGE, you have to make sure that your dis-info agent "appears" to be going along the "same lines" as the general discussion. You also have to build TRUST with your newly appointed dis-info agent.

"As time went on, many thought that the Serpo story was a hoax and the game was over. Then after a month of waiting, new information was sent directly to Bill Ryan, instead of through Victor Martinez."

OK, after a month, the dis-info team have found their new "torch bearer" - Bill Ryan. They now need to build Bill up (trust wise) so he is a hero so that they can them bring the whole "house of cards" crashing down. A neat way to do this is provide "suspicious" info.

"The new information was more journal entries that continued after the previous entries, as if nothing had happened."

Typical dis-info stuff - pretend nothing is wrong.

"The problem though is the entries seemed to be written in a different style, and they looked like they could be from a different source."

The style was different because it was written by a new "team" and not coming from Anon. At this point Anon is out of the loop, so to speak. The new team is now:

DisInfo Team - Bill Ryan - ATS

NOT

Anon - Victor - ATS

"In addition, it was clear that the ATS forum had become Bill’s center of attention as the new Anonymous post appeared within the ATS thread, and only later did this appear on Bill’s Serpo.org website."

What can I say...

Bill did TV shows etc etc but I would say that this was for us to build trust with Bill. That Doty guy on the scene with Bill suggests Bill comes from the same mud-hole (Doty confirmed he was a dis-info agent).

Like I said, I haven't read all the pages, however if this was true, do you really think this would be allowed to run to the point that photos were actually provided?

I think not.

Let's get back to the real world of lies and deceit as provided by "guess who".

The information regarding serpo will be released on THEIR TERMS only!

If you want to post anonomously on the Internet and never get caught (or find a bullet in your brain), there is only ONE SAFE WAY to do it.

Here it is:

1) Post ONLY from a public areas (ie Internet cafe etc) and get in and out in a matter of minutes
2) Post ONLY from different geographical locations (ie towns/cities)
3) In the first post, provide an ENCRYPTED sentence from a random book (using the ORIGINAL Zimmerman free version of PGP that hasn't got NSA back doors - it's still around, look for it)
3) In the next message, provide the public key that unlocks the first encrypted message. This will prove that the subsequent message is from the same person. The reason for this is that different geographic locations have different IP addresses and you CANNOT use the same IP address more than once otherwisw you WILL BE FOUND.
4) ALWAYS BELIEVE you are being watched from cameras AND satellites and, as such, use a disguise (hat etc) for the former and use covered walkways to get away from the latter.
5) When moving around to various geographic locations, DO NOT form a pattern - you WILL be found.

If serpo is true, how many agents do you think they would put on the case to stop the info getting out? As many as needed

That's all you need to post anonomously and NEVER be found by whoever

My experience? Been involved with the Internet since around 1994, worked on and developed cryptographic systems and have helped form a number of Internet standards.

Cheers

JS

Well, i'm still lost on this.

I haven't got time to read the 50 or more threads in the 'sum up'

The poll results are inconclusive.

My conclusion: A whole load of people, with their 8 typing fingers, wrote a lot of arguments, spent a long time reading, and nothing definite was agreed upon.

Just another day on the worlds biggest conspiracy forum

(I'm really just jealous that I never caught the serpo thread from the start!!!
