It seems that the UK will be increasing its involvement in Afghanistan, with a increase in troops. These troops will be sent to the southern regains
of this volatile country. It surprise's me that there is still such a problem in this country.

The number of UK troops in Afghanistan will peak at 5,700, defence secretary John Reid has told MPs.
The majority will be sent to the south, to the volatile Helmand area, which Mr Reid admitted was a "more demanding" than others in Afghanistan.
An extra 3,300 troops will go to the country to add to 1,100 already there and 1,950 announced earlier but the total at one time will not top 5,700.

I for one am amazed at the task still facing the troops over there. Hopefully this will relive a bit of pressure on the troops that are already over
there.
This could also put extra pressure on the drug barons, and hopefully slow down the amount of heroin getting to other countries
